I love matte lipstick shades because not only are they a huge rage these days, but also, they look more elegant on my face. Shiny and glossy lip products just look over the top and a “bit too much” on my face and my skin tone. The best way to get matte lip is by applying liquid lipsticks and these days, makeup industry is inundated with liquid lipsticks, and there are so many options to choose from. This review is on a new launch by Maybelline – Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Un-Nude Liquid Lipstick. I tried it this week and enjoyed its texture, but shade – not so much.

My Experience with Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Un-Nude Liquid Lipstick Seductress:
The packaging of this liquid lipstick is just like all other liquid lipsticks that we see on makeup aisle. The product comes in an opaque tube which is in the color of the lipstick and this makes identification easier. The cap holds a leaf-shaped applicator which is equally common among lip products as a doe-foot applicator. I like both types equally because both make application easier, especially, around the corners and outlines of the lips.
This liquid lipstick comes in 20 shades (10 are sold without the tag “un-n*de”) and they all vary from reds to ndes to corals with warm and cool tones, hence there is at least one shade for all of us. The size of the tube is generous and we get a good quantity product for the price paid.
The color of this particular shade is cool toned pink-brown color which looks pale on my skin tone. It will, however, add just the right amount of color to fairer skin tones. If a fair skinned beauty desires a n*de lipstick, then this might be a good choice because as I have mentioned earlier, it does add color, but for someone who has my skin tone, it is a n*de color. I personally don’t prefer it on my face because it makes me look pale and dull, and does not complement my dark makeup either.
I first tried it on my bare lips without any lip balm on. The applicator helped me reach corner of my lips well and outline my lips neatly. It gave complete opacity in the first application. With the second coat, I achieved darker color and a neat finish.
This liquid lipstick does not have any strong, artificial fragrance which is a plus for me. It claims to have 16-hour staying power, but we all know, that is certainly not true. It lasted on my lips through my meals with faint fading from the center of the lips. Most importantly, it does not dry out lips like most other liquid lipsticks and is better than Colorpop liquid lipsticks which are just too uncomfortable to wear. These lipsticks by Maybelline perform better with a mild lip balm underneath.
Pros of Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Un-Nude Liquid Lipstick Seductress:
- An affordable liquid lipstick range from Maybelline that has 20 different shades.
- There is at least one shade for each one of us.
- The packaging is sturdy and does not appear cheap, especially for the money paid. The product comes in a generously-sized tube.
- Good coverage in a single application.
- Lasts well, does not survive greasy meals.
- Does not dry out lips like other liquid lipsticks.
- No unpleasant artificial fragrance.
Cons of Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Un-Nude Liquid Lipstick Seductress:
- The color is not suitable for my skin tone.
- Needs reapplication after meals.
- 16-hour staying power is an exaggeration.
Do I Recommend Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Un-Nude Liquid Lipstick Seductress?
It is a good effort by Maybelline to provide consumers with a more affordable liquid lipstick option. It performs well for the money paid and I do recommend it to others.
