Maybelline The Rock Nudes Palette Review

Hello peeps,

After the “Nudes” and the “Blush Nudes” palettes, Maybelline has recently launched a new palette and has named it “Rock Nudes.” As the name suggests, it was expected that it is going to have some bold shades and I was pretty happy when I took the first look. Read the review to know whether this palette is worth the money or not.

My Experience with Maybelline The Rock Nudes Palette:

Packaging: The rock n*des palette is a black compact palette with a see-through window from where the shades are nicely visible. The palette is very compact and can be easily carried around. It also contains a dual-ended brush which works well too. The palette is priced at INR 925 which is reasonable since it contains 12 shades and most of the palettes come around that price. The thing that I liked a lot about this palette is that it mentions which shades can be used together to create perfect looks.

Shades: The shades are pretty good. It mostly has bright and bold shades and a few shades for highlighting as the name “rock nudes” makes it very clear. I was expecting bright shades, but I wish there were some neutral shades too for the base since base colours provided in this palette do not have great pigmentation.

  • 1-It is a subtle shimmery white shade that can be used as a base or for highlighting purpose.
  • 2-It is a silvery grey with little shimmer particles that give a pearly metallic finish.
  • 3-It looks like a light lilac shade but when swiped, it looks more silvery with chunky shimmer.
  • 4-A simple matte brown shade to create smokey eyes.

  • 5-It is a deep navy blue with shimmer that give a metallic sheen; it is one of the most pigmented shades of the palette.
  • 6-A matte black shade with little silver shimmers that can be used for the outer V in smoky eyes.
  • 7- A light beige colour again with a pearly finish.
  • 8-A darker version of number 7.
  • 9-A matte light brown shade.
  • 10-Pretty olive shade with a metallic finish and a lot of black tone.
  • 11-A purplish black shade with a matte finish.
  • 12-A plain matte black shade.

Finish and Texture:  The shades in this palette have shimmery, metallic finishes. I love how they have added variety because in the “nudes” palette, there were a lot of matte shades. The texture of some shades is smooth while some are very chalky and gritty during application. The pigmentation and the texture could have been a lot better since other drugstore palettes do provide good quality than this. The eyeshadows do not blend that well, but for the price, it is fine.

Staying Power:  The shades stay for 5-6 hours on the eyes on their own and an hour or two more with a primer beneath. It does cause a lot of fall out in the pan during application which cannot be avoided.

Pros of Maybelline The Rock Nudes Palette:

  • Compact palette.
  • 12 different shades available to create different looks.
  • Easily available.
  • Perfect to create smokey eyes.
  • The darker shades are nicely pigmented and look even better with a primer.
  • Pretty metallic, shimmery and matte shades.
  • Easy to apply with fingers and brush.
  • Lasts for a good amount of 5-6 hours on my eyes and even more without a primer.

Cons of Maybelline The Rock Nudes Palette:

  • The texture is a bit gritty and chalky.
  • Causes a lot of fall-out in the pan.
  • The pigmentation on the shimmery shades could have been a bit better.
  • Does not blend very smoothly.
  • No basic shades.

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Maybelline The Rock Nudes Palette?
The shades are pretty nice if you love creating bold looks and smokey eyes, but I wish the texture was a little smoother. You should try it first at the counter, see how you like the shades and the texture, and only then go for it. I think Maybelline should launch a palette with some nice copper, bronze, golds and more shades shades – that would be fabulous!
