Maybelline India has launched a lovely eyeshadow range called ‘The Tone on Tone Eyeshadows’ with four beautiful shades. This is basically a stick shadow with dual tones. Today, I am talking about the shade ‘Love on Taupe’. Now, let’s get into the details.

Tone on Tone Dual Eyeshadow Stick by Maybelline is a first-of-its-kind two-toned eyeshadow bar that creates the hottest eye makeup look in one simple swipe. Its two complementary creamy hues melt onto the lids easily and add distinct definition to the eyes. The two shades, dark and light, can be used along the lash line as well as the mobile lid or inner corner of the eye. A great option for those who are constantly on-the-go and looking for quick, fuss-free application.
My Experience with Maybelline The Tone on Tone Nudes Eyeshadow Love on Taupe:
Packaging:
Tone on Tone eyeshadow comes in a beautiful sleek black tube with a clear cap. It’s a nice square shaped retractable tube that does not require sharpening and is a mess-free product as well. I can identify the shade due to its clear cap, but I have to close the cap very carefully to avoid any damage. Otherwise, it’s a nice, travel-friendly and affordable product that lasts long as well.
Shade:
This range offers four beautiful shades for all skin tones and each shade has a dual tone that can give a nice ombre look. The shade ‘Love on Taupe’ has two shades from the brown family. One is deep natural taupe brown shade while the other one is warm beige shade. These two shades are perfect to create a natural everyday look with a hint of shine on the eyes. If you apply it properly, the deeper shade goes over the lower lid area and the lighter shade brightens up the upper eyelid. You may use the other way round too.
This one stick is enough to create a beautiful look. Such taupe brown looks very natural on my medium skin tone but it might not show up properly on darker skin tones. So I feel it’s best for fair to medium skin tones. The shade is well pigmented and requires few strokes to get the color on the lid.
Texture and Quality:
This stick has a soft smooth texture that glides effortlessly on the eyes without any tugging. The creamy formula blends smoothly and evenly with an occupied texture. I can even blend the shadow with my finger and it works well with a brush too. It takes only a few seconds to get the perfect look. Due to its square shape, it’s quite difficult to apply the shadow on a small area, like inner corners. It can’t reach to corners easily and I have to use the pointed side.
With a single side I still can apply it on lower lash line. Otherwise, the formula is nice and lightweight as well. Also, it’s a non-sticky, non-patchy creamy shadow. Somehow, I can’t build up the pigmentation easily as the shade looks so natural, almost same as my skin tone. The shadow carries very subtle shimmer particles that give a beautiful pearly finish.
They never look overpowering at all. Such finely milled shimmer particles give a natural look to the eyes. The shadow sets to a soft creamy formula that can be smudged if I touch my eyes but it doesn’t smudge or create any mess on its own. The shadow doesn’t crease much, just like the other shades from this range. It does crease when a lot of powder shadows are used, though. Otherwise, it survives well without any mess.
Staying Power:
Now, as a creamy shadow, it stays well – for around 5-6 hours. But after that, it starts to look faded. As it’s a very natural shade, it looks almost nude by the end of the day but the shine still stays on my eyes. It behaves pretty well on my oily lids and shimmers never spread either. Still, it’s better to use a silicon base or a matte primer underneath this formula. It’s easy to remove with a normal wipe and the shimmers get off easily too.
Overall:
I love the formula and the natural finish it delivers on the eyes. This is perfect for beginners and this shade is beautiful. If you are an office-goer, you too would love it.
