My Experience with Maybelline Topaz Gold Color Sensational Eyeshadow Palette:
This eyeshadow palette comes in a small black colored cardboard packaging. The carton bears all the product related details on it. The box has glossy and matte patterns printed all over it. The variant name is mentioned on top of this palette.
The cardboard packaging is also see-through from the center and would help you to locate the shade easily from the stash. The lid of the eyeshadow palette fits very securely with an audible click, making this tiny palette travel friendly. The palette comes with a dual-ended sponge applicator, which is small and pretty useless for me. Overall, the packaging is quite nice.
“Topaz Gold” is a beautiful combination of warm colors. The palette comes with 5 shades of eyeshadows. I really love the 3 dimensional concept of this eyeshadow. The brand has named each shade individually as A, B, C, D and E. Let’s discuss each shade, one by one:
Shade A: It is a beautiful shimmery beige shade. It has finely milled golden micro shimmers in it. This is good for highlighting purposes. The pigmentation of this shade is average. Two to three swipes are required for the color to show up nicely.
Shade B: I really love the hexagonal shape of this eyeshadow. This is a shimmery dull gold eyeshadow, which is finely milled with golden microshimmer. The shimmer is subtle and gives a luminous effect to the eyeshadow. This shade is super pigmented and imparts a nice colour in just one go.
Shade C: This is a shimmery brown shade. It is also loaded with golden microshimmer. This is a gorgeous shade for defining the crease. The pigmentation of this eyeshadow is too good.
Shade D: This is the darkest of all. It is a matte dark brown eyeshadow. It looks very different in the palette than in the swatches. Though it has some microshimmers in it, but they are not at all visible and the eyeshadow looks almost matte. It is amazingly pigmented and imparts a nice color in one swipe.
Shade E: This is a glittery beige shade. The golden glitters are big but not chunky. This is a top coat, which is used to provide that gradient effect to the eyes. It is super pigmented.
The texture of these eyeshadows is soft, smooth and silky. It is lightweight and feels comfortable on the eyes. They glide effortlessly on the eyelids. All the shades are very easy to build and do not look patchy. It is a shimmery palette but still it does not look over the top. The pigmentation is average. The shades could have been more pigmented. A few shades require multiple swipes for the color to build up properly. These eyeshadows are not at all waterproof. Shades A, C and E have a little fallout. The shadows do not crease at all even after hours of application.
The shadows last for approximately 7-8 hours on my eyelids with an eye primer underneath and without any primer, would last for 5 hours or so. All the shades are shimmery in nature, so the shimmers are a little hard to remove, so a good oil-based makeup remover is required to take them completely.
Overall, the shades are gorgeous but I did not find this palette very appealing in terms of pigmentation.
