I love coral lipsticks and keep picking them up one after the other and end up with dupes of shades I already have. So this time I went to the counter to pick up a coral gloss and the SA showed me this. After a lot of confusion, finally I picked this up. To be honest seeing the insane hike in prices of lip products I found this budget friendly too. After coming back home, I was happy to find that the shade matched my coral lipstick shades and I can easily top them using this for a shiny look.

My experience with Maybelline Watershine Liquid Diamond Gloss 02 Coral Sunset

The name of this range is so interesting that it makes me feel as if I am buying precious gems for myself: P Jokes apart this lip gloss comes packed in a nice cylindrical plastic bottle and its cap has a lip gloss applier attached to it. The size of this gloss is small enough to fit into the small pockets and slim purses easily. And its smells like candies which of course makes this a yummy treat.

It has a thick but easy to apply consistency. The shade I got is -02 Coral Sunset which as its name suggests is a coral peach shade with pink undertones. It is quite sheer and has minute sparkles which I believe is what Maybelline referred to as liquid diamonds. My complexion is medium with yellow undertones and coral shades look good on me so I think this will suit fair to medium skinned girls and girls whose complexion have pink undertones. Being sheer, one swipe of this gloss gives a nice shiny tint to the lips. Another 2-3 swipes give a super glossy lips and I feel this shade particularly gives a plump look to my lips.

This lip gloss can be worn alone or over lipsticks. In the daytime I do not want my lips to look bold and distracting so wear only a single swipe. While for parties and other night time gatherings I swipe more coats of this to get a gorgeous look .This shade is a strict no no for pigmented lips. My upper lip is slightly pigmented and the pigmentation remains visible when I wear this alone so I prefer wearing a light lip tint beneath this. Plus this shade being shiny can be worn above matte lipsticks and also dark shades to create a new shade altogether. Now coming to its staying power which goes maximum 2 hours only when more than one swipe is applied. Also it does not need a lip make up remover as only water or even light cleansers cut it down. What remains behind are the shiny particles that are difficult to get rid of.

The negative points of this lip gloss are not just the staying power but also the dryness it leaves behind. I do not know as to why it makes my lips so dry after the color fades out from the lips. It gets into the lines and looks really bad which is visible in the lip swatch itself. Also like most lip glosses it is very sticky and from time to time I have to struggle to keep my hair away from my face. May be I am expecting too much at this price but honestly I do not think I will repurchase this as the downs are something that I cannot ignore especially the dryness it brings to my lips.

Overall verdict:

In all I am not recommending this range to anyone except girls who want a coral gloss at an affordable price.
