Maybelline Watershine Voluptuous Grape Review

Maybelline watershine extra volume in voluptuous grape

A big hi to the IMBB family.

I wanted to share about this gloss I’ve been using for a while now. It’s a Maybelline product and I’m hooked on their glosses. I mean I’ve got almost all of them. “Caramel” is my favorite but today I’m going to talk about the watershine extra volume in voluptuous grape.

The website says:
• Plump, Voluptuous lips… at the flick of a wand!
• Menthol and ginger extracts give a tingling feeling for the “plump lips” effect.
• Fast wearing

Quantity: 3 ml.
Price: Rs.180.

Ingredients: Not available in the website or on the packaging.
Packaging: Very very cute. It’s a tiny tubular packing with a high shine gunmetal kind of cap..

Applicator: Precise size, easy to handle. Its tip is slightly angulated and pointy so it comes handy in defining the lips, if you’re planning to give an all over swipe.

Now about the gloss-

Colour: Pinkish-crimson tint, rather I would say its dark pink, so need not apply any lip color underneath it. Yes, but then those looking for more clear look this one won’t work because it definitely imparts a sparkling bright color to the lips. Little bit of shimmer is seen after application. The best thing about the gloss is that it’s not sticky and gooey, which I totally hate in glosses otherwise.

Now those with pigmented and dark lips should avoid this one, unless they plan to put another lipcolor underneath, preferably light shade so that it balances the dark tone of the gloss.

Consistency: Good.Glides on smooth. Not sticky like other glosses. It doesn’t run out of lip lines but ideally I let it stay within my liplines. It is not too thick not too runny.

Smell: Well, does smell like grapey-minty. Smell doesn’t last for too long. Fades off within few minutes of application.
The trick is if you have a very dark shade and want to tone down its shiny effect- apply this gloss and if there’s any lighter shade you can brighten it up with this one.It kind of plays with other colors.

And yes, it does have the plumping effect, leaving tingling sensation for a while.

Pros:
• Good color
• Plumps the lips real nice
• Not very pricey
• It has this tingly mingly sensation after application which probably gives this cooling sensation.

Cons:
• Some might not like the smell although it fades away in a short while.
• Staying power is very less, around 2-3 hours. But it does keep you away from eating for a while..good for people who are on diet.lolz.
• Some might not be comfortable with the cooling tingly sensation on application.

I like the product can give it a try at least once.

Rating : 3.9 for the beautiful colour it imparts.

  1. Oops.. I just saw the last pic.. It wasnt loaded last time when I typed the comment. Net here is pathetically slow! 🙁 now.. i truly love the color..

  2. This used to be my favourite glosses of all times. Sadly, this shade has been discontinued.
Please let me know if you know a good dupe of this.

  3. Totally like the color. It is soft and very versatile. I mean you can pop it up on just any color and it wouldnt disturb the original color as such. 🙂
