Maybelline Whitestay UV Compact-Review and Photos

Maybelline Whitestay UV compact- Review

This one is for you Ki. 🙂 Hope it helps…

Maybelline is a brand which is quite close to my heart. I have many Maybelline products and I have found quite a few HGs there. I found Maybelline Dream Matte mousse, Shadow Stylist, a plethora of shades in the Moisture extreme range and of course the Maybelline Whitestay UV compact.

Maybelline Whitestay UV compact is a pressed powder which is packaged in a white round pack. The packaging is no non-sense stark white. It has following information-

  • Maybelline New York Whitestay UV- Fairness compact powder
  • Glowing finish instantly
  • Vitamin C brightens skin tone instantly for visible fairness that lasts all day
  • SPF 18 UV filters protect from skin darkening
  • Skin stays flawless and fresh all day long
  • Hides dark spots and imperfections for a flawless natural look
  • Oil-free powder keeps skin feeling fresh through the day
  • Silky soft texture
  • Ultra fine powder spreads easily and smoothly onto skin
  • Lightweight and mild, this powder is suitable for everyday use

How to use: Pat small amounts gently on face and neck. Blend using puff. Suitable for everyday use.

  • Dermatologically tested
  • Allergy tested
  • Won’t clog pores

The compact is available in five shades namely- White Ivory, Light Ivory, Natural, Nude and Fawn. (Lightest to darkest)
It costs Rs. 150/- (Indian Rupees). 😀 Isn’t that great???

Maybelline

I have one in the shade Fawn.

  • The shade White Ivory is pure white- looks like they have compressed talc. I can’t fathom why they would have created it, as it will not suit any skin tone. And if you have to use a chalk white powder, what is wrong with Pond’s talcum powder or the likes???
  • The only reason I could think of is perhaps they wanted to make it look like a fairness powder. (That doesn’t even make sense to me!!!)
  • But I was absolutely scared of it. But this shade, Fawn, looks like it was custom made for me. Me happy!!!! 😀
  • The shade Nude has slight pink undertones while Fawn is warmer.
  • Light ivory is for fair skin tones while Natural is for Fair to medium.

Maybelline White Stay UV Compact

Here is why MAybelline Whitestay UV Comapct is my HG-

  • I found my perfect shade with it, 😀
  • It is very light. It does not make me look cakey or made up.
  • It brightens my skin as soon as I apply it. But I am not sure what the phrase Fairness Powder means…. 😕
  • It sets makeup like a dream. Even my blush lasts longer on top of this.
  • It instantly hides blemishes and even lightens dark circles.
  • The coverage is medium. But if you have a lot of blemishes or spots a concealer maybe required.
  • I sometimes use it to hide excess of blush. It also hides under eye smudged kajal. It is perfect for touch-ups through the day.
  • Also it is small and a staple in my handbag. Actually I bought another piece just to keep in my bag for touch-ups.
  • I do not have an oily skin but my mom does. She uses the same product in the shade ‘Nude’. It keeps her skin oil-free for a long time. It is perfect for oily skin.
  • I have very dry skin but this one does not dry me out. No dry patches at all!!! So it is perfect for dry skin too!!
  • It blends well and works with all types of foundations.
  • It does not clog pores. I never had any break outs with this.
  • At the same time, it gives a pore-less, even coverage.
  • A very little goes a long way.
  • It has absolutely no odour which I like.
  • I prefer to use only this if I want a matte look. My daily makeup includes a tinted moisturizer set with this compact. And I am set for the day!!!
  • The puff that comes with it is tiny but does its job well.
  • The compact comes with a mirror in the lid which is fair sized and useful.
  • Comes with SPF 18, although I do not bother with this. I either use a sunscreen or my Biotique tinted moisturizer (which has SPF 30) underneath.
  • It contains Vitamin C, which is a natural skin brightener.
  • It is so decently priced. And the product lasts really long. The one I have right now is only half finished and I have been already using it for the last 3 months…. Daily!!!!

Maybelline Whitestay UV Compact

The only problem with this is-

  • The chalk white shade……. Do whatever you want to, but never go for it. I never would!!
  • The powder is NOT buildable. If you use a lot of it, it would make you look OTT… it should be used judicially. One swipe is almost always enough.
  • Other than that, this one is absolutely perfect. As I said earlier, I love Maybelline products. And I especially love this one!!!

I will definitely give this one—– 4 + 0.5
0.5 deducted for the ghastly White ivory shade!!!!

I will be buying this over and over again… I also want to try their new Dream matte powder…….

Have you tried Maybelline Whitestay or Dream matte compacts???

    1. Hi Sunaina… That’s not a stupid question at all….

Powders are used to set foundation, so that it lasts longer and stays even on the face…

Powders can be loose or compact (pressed powders). You can use both of these to set makeup, but compacts are more popular as they are easy to carry around in your purse and are highly non-messy. Also the use of loose powder requires a bit of skill with the brush whereas compact is easier to apply with its puff. 🙂

If you want just a little coverage or a natural matte finish, you can use a compact alone, too.
But compacts cannot be an alternative to foundations as both give very different coverages.

It’s a must have if you are just starting out with makeup as it is very easy to use and can be used to cover up mistakes. Also great for touch ups throughout the day…

      Hope this helps…. :-)) :-))

      1. Ooohh.. it’s clear now, thanks! When reading your reaction I realized that I have a powder, I think it’s a loose powder, let me check. I’ve never used it, some SA talked me into buying it months ago. It’s Chanel natural finish loose powder, color: 50 peche. I don’t think this color is dark enough for me 😕 Can I use it anyway? It was so expensive:(
.-= sunaina´s last blog ..World inspired colours =-.

  3. Thank you so much Poornima… I know the white powder is awful… Glad at least it was free…

Happy B’day Mr. Singh… :cake: :cake: Hope you two have a great day at the Spa…. 😉

Happy anniversary Jomol…. Wish you eternal marital bliss… :rose: :rose:

    1. Had a great day, M. Thanks. 🙂 I just gifted to my friends and mom. I was thinking of pickin g up Lotus one for myself but I guess 150 is not a bad price for something that is your HG. 🙂

    1. Thank you Ruby…
I hope you will like it…

You have to moisturise well before puttig anything on your face… I have a very dry skin too… But moisturisig is the key….. 🙂

  4. Thaaaaaaank you Mrunmayeeeeee 😀 :kissing:

I was thinking of MAC’s studio fix but I think this’ll be a very (!!!) well priced alternative that works! 😀

I’m going to buy this within a few days for sure and I’ll tell you how I find it :-))

Thanks again!!! :-)) This sounds GOOD. :-))
.-= ki.´s last blog ..My first major beauty review published!!! =-.

    1. You are welcome Honey…. :-* :-*

Isn’t MAC studio fix the Creme to powder type of compact ?:-) ?:-)

This is one is your plain compact but it will never fail ya…. 😉

        1. Of course… I am not a big fan of those something-to-something else compacts… I’ll buy a concealer, foundation and compact separately ALWAYS….

And nice review mrunmayee… i got the chalk white one free with my dream mousse.. it does give me a talcum powder like feeling! Though sometimes i just dust some lightly on my face to get rid of shine.

I m planning to pick the dream matte powder next week.. will let you know it works 🙂

  7. Great review, Mrunmayee! Since I’m just starting out, I was looking to buy an inexpensive compact – and this sounds PERFECT. Thanks! 🙂

    1. Hello Sush…

Thank you for the lovely comments… You are a Sweetheart……

I hava used lakme compact for a long period of time… And this one is definitely way better than Lakme, although the price is comparable…… Hope you like it… :-)) :-))

      1. I have also used Lakme radiant compact for years . I used to find it a bit chalky but then who cared about all this stuff 2-3 years back. Infact i sued to like it a lot. 😛

        Thank you, Sush. 🙂

  10. Hi,

I stumbled upon this blog 2 days back and absolutely loooooooooooooved it!!!

Have been reading the archives since then!

Anyways, I loved this compact. But, it always breaks in my purse 🙁

The first time it did..I thought it might be my mistake!

When the cover of the second compact broke, I blamed it on coincidence!

Then, I bought the third compact and that also broke!

Now, I dont want to try it again!!

But, I haven’t found any other compact which is as good as this one!!

And this is from a person who has a very very very oily skin!

So I have my half-used compacts at home, which I use while applying make-up at home.

But I dare not carry any in my purse.

I even complained it to a Maybelliene SA and she said ya we have a few complaints about it!!

I wonder if they plan to rectify it??

  11. Hi gals.. Can u pls suggest long lasting foundation n compact for oily skin wit medium fair complexion..? Anything about mineral foundation…?

  12. hey.i wud luv to use this white ivory.m wheatish bt i think it wud give a slight glow if used properly.m finding it bt unable to get it anywhr.

  13. I was casually surfing IMBB where I came across this review.
I have been using this compact for ages…more than 3yrs may be… I use the Light Ivory wala shade since I have whitish to fair complexion. I loooooooove this compact, absolutely adore it 😀
A must have wherever I go. *preen* *happydance* *happy dance*
