Meera Herbal Hair Wash Powder Review

Meera+Herbal+Hair+Wash+Powder+Review

All of us might have seen Meera Herbal Hair Wash Powder in supermarkets, cosmetic shops, and online stores at one point or the other, but many of us might have ignored it because its not a liquid shampoo, its a powder shampoo, a herbal one, and needs a bit of mixing before it can be applied to the hair.  I have been experiencing a bout of hair fall since this past winter and the usual shampoos that I use like Pantene, L’Oreal Repair 5, Herbal Essences, The Body Shop, did not seem to be working to stop that.  That’s when my sister suggested Meera Herbal Powder because its a mix of herbal powders which condition, nurture, and aid in hair growth.  My sister uses this when she has hair fall issue and it helps her in curbing the problem.  Here’s me sharing my experience with Meera Herbal Hair Wash:

Product Description:

Rediscover traditional hair care in a whole new form with Meera Herbal Hair Wash Powder.  An aromatic blend of herbs, roots, and flowers that strengthen and nourish your hair leaving it naturally healthy.

My Take on Meera Herbal Hair Wash Powder:

At first, I thought it would be a messy process mixing the powder together and applying it on hair, but its not.  There is 90 gm of product in this pack and for my mid-length hair, I can use it two times.

This powder comes in a plastic bottle which is filled only 1/4th of its size.

Herbal Hair Wash 2

The powder smells strongly of herbs though after rinsing it off, there is not much of any fragrance left in the hair.  I take half of the powder in the pack and mix it with water into a loose paste.  After that, I apply it on to my wet hair.  This powder foams and lathers so well that for a moment I had a doubt whether they added any sulfates to it.  Though there is no mention of any other ingredient other than the herbal ones. There are some bits of herbs in the powder, but they wash easily off the hair.  It cleans just like a shampoo, probably because of the soapnut and shikkakai.  I got squeaky clean hair with this herbal wash.  After air drying, I noticed that it also conditioned my hair, though it did not make the hair glossy 😛

Herbal Hair Wash 3

Some common herbs present in this herbal powder that you can identify are shikkakai, tulasi, fenugreek, hibiscus, moong dal, soapnuts (rita), vetiver, gooseberry (amla).  Isn’t it amazing, all the herbs that are good for hair health are present in this powder. After getting to know about the importance of all ingredients present, I have started to keep it on my hair for 5 to 10 minutes before rinsing it off.

Herbal Hair Wash 4

Now, coming to the effectiveness, using this powder on a regular basis has controlled my hair fall.  I was having unexplained hair loss before, but now, I have been using only this powder and there is minimal hair loss.  I am going to continue to use this powder for a long time now.

He he….that’s my hair, wanted to show you all how nicely it foams and lathers:

  1. i also use this on and off n like it…. thy have like 1-2 % sls but i dnt mind. omg the packaging is a ripoff! buy the refill packs instead..
how did u take tht picture of ur hair 😉

  2. wow…I was looking for a herbal product for my hairs as I was experiencing hair fall and didn’t needed a chemical based product. Will definitely buy this. Thanks for the review

  3. Wow, I will try this. I remember using some powder shampoo as a kid, called Silkesha. This must be similar. I just washed my hair with reetha shikakai nuts, and after all the mess..I think this will be good for the times I feel lazy. What a waste though, such a large dabba, more than half empty!

  4. Thanks so much ,…. i have been wanting a trustworthy review on this like forever and ppl usually say mixed stuff,…. their ad is soo tempting as well

  5. thanks a ton for this review.
i got my bottle today only and i was half-minded to use it or not, how wil it be…so its exactly wat i needed now.

  6. looks like a powder shampoo with cleaning surfactants like SLS ..hence the foam. The reetha and shikakai seem to be 0.5 % and 1%. That is like – showpieces. The story is same as any ‘natural’ ‘herbal’ shampoo…..0.0001% of herbal ingredients while the actual job of cleaning is done by surfactants ! 😛

    1. I agree…after reading you reply I actually realised that the mentioned ingredients add up to just 25%, so no idea what goes into making rest of the 75% but I am getting ideas now. I will still try it though….but I am sticking to my homemade reetha shikakai largely! I know what goes in it.

  7. Ive had terrible hair loss problem this winter… none of the shampoos have been working for me either….. ill totally try this or else ill get bald soon!!!!!

  8. dis does dry out hair a bit,bt makes it clean..i just use a handful of powder each tym,so lasts for about 10washes..didnt knw t had surfactantz..n i was naive enuf 2 think dat d foaming was due to hibiscus:-( ..(pure hibiscus does foam a bit..)..as for d hairfal..der is a bit of reduction..

  9. I used this n number of times.. it never failed me to impress.. this is best when compared to the shampoos available in market..

At present i am using Dhathri shampoo jomol.. that is also working good like this one.. try that

  10. I used to love this too but two things changed my mind – 1) This does have sulphates though it is not listed, that is why you get suds, pure herbs will not give you the same amount of lather; 2) more importantly, several users of meera said they got a lot of grey hair after using this, I have too many hair issues already to risk getting grey hairs also, so stopped using it.

  11. Hey Jomol,
Nice review… But it makes my hair very dry and unmanagable after use… Do you face any such problem? Any ways of solving it?

  12. i was tempted to buy this one… As it is cavin Kare product. Mixed reaction actually. Coz it has all herbal ingredients which is so good for hairs.. But it does make ur hairs dry n little unmanageable. The real shikakai… Which I used is far better than this coz it does not give even little hair fall. Presently I am using Nyle shampoo.. N m very happy
