Merle Norman Frozen Cocoa Eye Shadow Review

By Aakanksha Katihar

Hi Fashionistas,

I am here with a review for an Eye Shadow by Merle Norman Cosmetics in the shade “Frozen Cocoa”. Merle Norman is a trusted brand in USA. It was established in Los Angeles in 1931, it tends to have very loyal customers even now. One of my colleagues could not stop raving about it, so I had to give it a try.
Their eye shadows come in 3 finishes: Luminous, Matte and Semi Matte. Frozen Cocoa has a luminous finish to it.

My Experience with Merle Norman Frozen Cocoa Eye Shadow:

Shade:
Can I just say that I am absolutely in love with this shade? Frozen cocoa…the name defines the color exactly as it is. It is a very pretty brown with sheer sparkles. I think this shade will look amazing on anyone. It has a luminous finish to it that I really like. This shade works amazing as an outer V shade and also to create a smoky eye effect.

Merle Norman Frozen Cocoa Eye Shadow Open

Packaging:
It comes in a rectangular container packaged in a cardboard box. It is a pretty sleek packaging. The only thing I do not like about it is that, it is somewhat difficult to open it if you have long nails. I almost broke mine trying to open it. But other than that, I like its packaging and you get a lot of product as well. You get almost double of what you get in a MAC eyeshadow (0.09 oz as compared to 0.05 oz) for the same price.

Texture & Pigmentation:
This shadow has a very smooth texture and has a lot of pigmentation to it. It is very easy to blend. It does not really have a shimmer to it but, it does have tiny sparkles which gives it a sheer luminosity. It is a very high quality shadow and I like their color selection as well, especially in the luminous finish.

Merle Norman Frozen Cocoa Eye Shadow Hand Swatch

Fragrance:
These are fragrance free and oil free, so that is a plus. There was no significant fallout from them and it did not crease or fade on me at all. I wore it continuously for 8-9 hours and there was absolutely no irritation or redness in my eyes.

Staying Power:
It stayed put on my eyes for a good 8 hours. And it was very easy to remove it using a makeup remover.

• Price is great. You get double the product than MAC for same price.
• Good Pigmentation.
• Versatile for use for day as well as night time looks.
• Easy to remove using a makeup remover.
• 8-10 hours of staying power.

Cons Of Merle Norman Frozen Cocoa Eye Shadow:

• None that I can think of.
