I am so excited to bring you a review of a Milani lipstick today! This is from their famed ‘Color Statement’ line. Read further to see how this shade fared.
Bellissimo! You know how some (lesser) lipsticks look one way in the store, and then completely different in your bathroom mirror? Color Statement is the antithesis of that. A super-luxe, grown-up girl lipstick, it delivers true instant colour in a single swipe. Laced with vitamins A and C to hydrate and nourish, this collection is all about options: Corals and Reds, Orchids and Plums, Nudes, and Pinks. Trust us, you’ll want an entire wardrobe.
Begin applying from the center of your upper lips and work your way to the outer edges. Same application is used for your bottom lips.
Lipliner helps extend the wear & keeps your lipstick from feathering. When choosing a lipliner shade, match the lipliner to your lipstick shade or match your lipliner to the shade of your lips which will work with all your lipstick shades. Create a custom lipcolor by using a contrasting lipliner and lipstick shade.
My Experience with Milani 29 Teddy Bare Color Statement Lipstick:
The packaging of this product is a golden tube with the colour of the lipstick showing through the bottom. That makes it way easier to pick up from the stash. The lipstick itself is in a traditional bullet form.
The shade called 29 Teddy Bare is straight-up mid-tone brown. It is described as a cool natural brown on their website. Freshly applied (like in the photo lip swatches), it looks very pretty because there is a hint of pink in there. But, as it sits on the lips, it becomes a concealer-type browny nude (I am NC44, for reference) and it becomes more and more brown as it sits on the lips. This type of nude makes a statement in my opinion and it looks perfect if paired with smoky eyes.
The texture of this is very smooth and glides evenly on the lips wonderfully. It does not skip or apply patchily. It has good pigmentation, but you might need 2 coats to get it to show up if you are tanned or have deep complexions. As I said before, the longer it sits on the lips, the darker it gets. It does not settle into the lip lines nor does it cling to flakes and cracks of the lips. The colour does not feather or bleed either. Milani has figured out a really good formula for a fair price, in my opinion.
It also feels comfortable and moisturising on the lips. I like to use this lipstick in combination with a red or a pink lip liner to make it more wearable. The best nude I recommend for tanned skin tones is Revlon Pink Truffle Lip Butter. I have bought that product many times and it always lives inside my purse.
The formula of the lipstick is nothing extraordinary, so it does not last longer than 3-4 hours and if I eat, it disappears a lot quicker. Of course, longevity can be improved with a lip liner underneath. Also, it does transfer off as with any traditional lipstick. The finish of the lipstick is satiny. The lipstick does have a chemically, fruity scent. It is not overwhelming, but I am not a fan of it.
Pros of Milani 29 Teddy Bare Color Statement Lipstick:
• Creamy, moisturising
• Comfortable on the lips
• Does not bleed/feather
• Good formula
Cons of Milani 29 Teddy Bare Color Statement Lipstick:
• Shade can be hard to pull off for some skin tones
• The colour gets more and more brown as it sits on the lips
Would I Recommend Milani 29 Teddy Bare Color Statement Lipstick?
This is a good, solid lipstick formula from a drugstore brand for a great price. The shade, though, is more dependent on the individual’s preferences.
