I am an avid fan of matte lipstick shades because not only are they are a rage these days, they also look classier on my face. Shiny and glossy lip products just look over the top and a “bit too much” on my face and my skin tone. However, it is a known fact that matte lipsticks, especially liquid lipsticks can get uncomfortable after some time, and some times to the point that they eventually start to feel like paint on skin and stretch the sensitive layer of lips’ skin to unbearable proportions. To make the experience more pleasant, I usually wear a layer of lip balm underneath liquid lipsticks and sometimes on top as well. I bought the product in this review to make my liquid lipstick application easier.
Prime and prep your pout, extend the wear of your favorite lipstick and gloss and keep color inside the lines. Trace the curves of your lips with the translucent Anti-Feathering Lipliner, enriched with vitamins and hydrators for a comforting feel.
My Experience with Milani Anti-Feathering Lip Liner in Transparent:
The product comes in a pencil form and the tip looks translucent white (appropriate to the shade name). The pencil, however, is not retractable and has to be sharpened if more product is needed. This is a major drawback since it leads to product wastage and also leaves a gooey mess on the sharpener.
The performance of the product is, on the other hand, more impressive. It feels like applying a non-glossy, non-greasy lip balm and the tip makes sure that it is applied precisely on the outline of the lips (I fill my lips with it as well). On the first go, I felt that this product is redundant since I can achieve the same via a lip balm or petroleum jelly, but the non-greasy texture wooed me because greasy lip balms sometimes tend to ruin the makeup around my lips.
I tried this product under some drugstore liquid lipsticks that I usually find uncomfortable to wear. To my surprise, the lipstick did not slip, as it usually does on greasy layer and applied like applying on dry lips.
This lip liner did not affect the performance of the liquid lipstick in any manner – no adverse effect or improvement in longevity, but it did make the wear more comfortable and I experienced noticeably less stretching and pulling of my lips’ skin. It did reduce feathering and flaking and prevented me from reaching for a lip balm.
Pros of Milani Anti-Feathering Lip Liner in Transparent:
- It is a one of its kind product and an affordable product.
- Milani products are easily available in drugstores.
- It is neither greasy nor glossy.
- It does not affect the lipstick application process in an adverse manner.
- It prevents flaking and feathering of lips, especially while wearing low moisture lip products.
Cons of Milani Anti-Feathering Lip Liner in Transparent:
- Maybe same effect can be achieved buy a lip balm (I am not sure which one though).
- It is not meant for those who do not wear drying, liquid lipsticks (not needed under glossy or moisturizing products).
I really enjoyed wearing this one-of-a-kind lip product. It made me wear the lip products I had kept aside because they were too drying for my lips and appeared flaky. I do recommend this to all those who suffer with similar liquid lipstick concerns and avoid wearing them because of dryness issues.
