Milani Eyeshadow – Illusion Review

Milani Eyeshadow – Illusion Review

One of my favorite things to do on Friday is to walk down the beauty isles in drugstores. We have a CVS near our office, like five minutes away. So, I go there twice a week.  They usually run “buy 1 get one 50% off” sales every week, so I like to take advantage of that. On one such trip last year, I found this awesome eyeshadow.

My Experience with Milani Eyeshadow – Illusion:

Color: Illusion is a beautiful rose gold eye shadow. In the pan, it looks pinker with yellow shimmer, but when applied on the eye, it is more of a gold color. With one swipe, it brightens the eyes by giving a beautiful sheen to the eyelids. It would go beautifully with Indian outfits. It could be used during day or night.

Texture:

The texture of the eye shadow is very silky and it is easy to apply. It is very easy to blend in with other colors.

Pigmentation:

The eye shadow is decently pigmented. It requires at least two swipes to get the color on your lids, but I had to layer the eyeshadow a few times (3-4) for the pink color to show up on my eyes. It requires some sort of base or eye shadow primer to adhere to.

Staying Power:

The staying power of the eye shadow is okay not great. I wear this eye shadow with Maybelline color tattoo as a base. The color stays on my eye lids nicely if I layer the eye shadow well, but it starts to crease after 2-3 hours. But when I use an eye shadow primer, it does stay for around 5 hours and then the color starts to fade.

Overall, I absolutely adore this eyeshadow, the color especially.  As the name suggests, it truly is an illusion. It is a pretty duochrome shade of pink and gold. You don’t get the pink shade on your eyelids as it appears in the pan, but you get the gold color. You really need to layer it well for the pink color to show as it appears in the pan. One great thing about the product is that it doesn’t contain any chunky glitter. It glides really smooth over the eye lids and blends really well. It looks really beautiful on the eyelids. On most work days, I just wear it alone with some eyeliner, totally brightens up my eye without much effort. When I have more time, I pair it with Milani Java Bean – a brown shimmery eye shadow. Both work really well together. This eye shadow is compared to MAC Expensive Pink, but I really don’t know whether it is true or not as I don’t own Expensive Pink.

Would I Repurchase Milani Eyeshadow – Illusion?

Yes.

Conclusion:

I really like the product because of the amazing duo chrome color. It is shimmery but not over the top. It goes well with Indian outfits as well as western. It creases, but a good primer can fix that problem. Overall, a very nice product at a cheap price.
