I recently picked up a few shades from the Milani Color Statement Moisture Matte lipstick range. I have already reviewed the shade “Matte Darling” and today I am reviewing the shade – “Matte Iconic.” Read on to find out whether I liked it or not.

My Experience with Milani Matte Iconic Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick:
Packaging: This lipstick comes in a beautiful gold packaging with a band at the bottom matching with the color of the lipstick. The cap shuts tight and there is no danger of the cap coming off loose even if you toss it around in your bag. Even though the packaging is quite simple, it looks classy and doesn’t feel flimsy at all.
Shade: Matte Iconic is a gorgeous red shade. It is a warm shade which will suit most Indian skin tones. Even though it is a bright lipstick, it does not look garish. If you are looking for a classic red shade, look no further.
The pigmentation of the lipstick is quite decent. While one swipe does cover the lips, I prefer 2 swipes to get a more opaque finish. Multiple swipes does not make the application patchy.
Texture, Finish, Pigmentation:
As I had mentioned earlier, I also possess the shade “Matte Darling” from this range, but the formula of “Matte Iconic” is so different from Matte Darling. Matte Iconic is quite creamy and applies nicely on the lips. There is no tug and the lipstick is quite easy to work with.
The finish as the name suggests is matte. Since this is a bright shade, the finish does not look dull or flat.
The lipstick does not feel drying, but it is not overly moisturizing either. The lipstick does accentuate the lines and dry patches on the lips a bit. I would recommend exfoliation of the lips prior to the lipstick application.
The matte formula makes the lipstick stay long – it stays on for around 5-6 hrs with light meals. It leaves a reddish stain behind.
Pros of Milani Matte Iconic Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick:

- Decent pigmentation.
- Nice matte finish.
- Good staying power – around 5-6 hours.

Cons of Milani Matte Iconic Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick:
- The lipstick accentuates lines on the lips.
- Exfoliation is recommended for dry chapped lips.

If a classic red in matte is what you are looking for, I would surely recommend you to try out this lipstick.
