Milani Color Statement lipsticks are not new and have been around for a while and a few shades have been already reviewed on IMBB (“Darling”, “Passion” , “Iconic” etc). I recently picked up a few more shades from this range and today, I am reviewing the shade “Matte Luxe” for you. Read on to find out more about this shade.
$5.99. Prices may vary from store to store.
Meet your matte. Your fantasy matte. The matte that not only feels great (yes, you read that right – it’s actually comfy) but also lasts for hours and has “a-mazing Instagram selfie” written all over it. Infused with grape seed extract imported from Italy, this smear-proof lip soother delivers mega color that won’t budge, even after a close encounter with a cappuccino cup.
My Experience with Milani Matte Luxe Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick:
Packaging: This lipstick comes in a beautiful gold packaging with a band at the bottom matching the color of the lipstick. The cap shuts tight and there is no danger of the cap coming off loose even if you toss it around in your bag. The packaging is pretty simple. But it looks classy and does not look like a 6 dollars lipstick at all.
Shade: “Matte Luxe” is a gorgeous straight-up orange shade which reminds me so much of an orange popsicle. It is a bright shade which adds a pop of color to the face. This is not a shade which everyone would be comfortable wearing, but if you do wear it, you will surely turn heads 🙂 This is a shade which looks very similar to MAC Morange, of course Morange is a crème finish while this one is matte.
The pigmentation of the lipstick is quite strong – one swipe is enough to get a full on opaque finish. You may layer it if you wish. Multiple swipes do not make the application patchy.
Texture/Finish/Pigmentation: Even though this is a matte lipstick, the texture is quite creamy. The lipstick glides effortlessly on the lips and there is no tugging at all.
The finish of the lipstick is matte but it has a slight sheen to it which prevents it from looking dull. This particular shade feels slightly dry as compared to other shades from the range, but again, it is not something which a little lip balm underneath cannot take care of. I would highly recommend exfoliation to prevent the lipstick from clinging to dry patches. The lipstick does settle into lip lines.
The matte formula makes the lipstick stay long – it stays on for around 5-6 hours with light meals. The lipstick fades evenly and this particular shade leaves a light stain behind.
This lipstick has a mild vanilla smell, which I find quite pleasant. It does not stay for too long and hence should not be a matter of concern to sensitive noses.
Pros of Milani Matte Luxe Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick:
- Amazing statement orange shade.
- Creamy texture.
- Nice matte finish.
- Good staying power – around 5-6 hours.
- Classy packaging.
- Very affordable.
Cons of Milani Matte Luxe Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick:
- This particular shade will not appeal to all.
- Exfoliation is recommended for dry chapped lips.
- This shade feels slightly drying.
Would I Repurchase/Recommend Milani Matte Luxe Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick?
If orange lipsticks interest you, you should surely try out this lipstick. I will not repurchase the exact same shade as I am not too comfortable with this shade.
