Milani had introduced a few new makeup products to their existing line recently and one of the products that I had picked up is the Milani Face Primer. Milani has launched 2 primers – one is a “hydrating” primer and the other one is a “mattifying” version. I picked up the Mattifying one. Read on to find out how this primer fared on me.

My Experience with Milani Prime Shield Mattifying + Pore-Minimizing Face Primer:
Packaging: This primer comes in a flat, sleek, black plastic tube packaging. The tube is actually pretty small and a quick comparison with other drugstore primers reveals that the quantity that you get for the dollar spent is actually less.
The tube comes with a screw on cap which closes tightly. It has a fairly small nozzle for dispensing the product which is good because you can control how much product you squeeze out of the tube.
Consistency/Finish/Coverage: The texture of the primer is gel like. It feels light and is easy to apply and blend onto your face. It does not feel greasy and finally settles down to a matte finish. I like the way the primer gives a nice smooth appearance to the face and a good canvas for your foundation to cling onto. It does extend the wear of my foundation.
But I did not find it to be that effective on pores. It does not minimize pores as promised and is surely not a product for you if you have large pores. I didn’t experience any clogged pores or breakouts after using this primer.
Pros of Milani Prime Shield Mattifying + Pore-Minimizing Face Primer:

- Spreads and blends easily.
- Lovely matte finish.
- Provides a smooth and even finish to the skin.
- Does not clog pores or cause breakouts.
- Increases the wear of foundation.
Cons of Milani Prime Shield Mattifying + Pore-Minimizing Face Primer:
- Does nothing to pores.
- Expensive compared to other drugstore products.
