Milani Shadow Eyes 12hr Pencil – Green Safari Review

Milani Shadow Eyes 12hr Pencil – Green Safari Review

Hi Ladies!!

I had reviewed the light blue color in this range here.  Today, I have a review on the green colour, 04 Green Safari. There are 4 more colors in this range – White, Brown, Champagne and Purple. The green and blue are very similar to each other in a lot of ways. If you have read the Aquatic Style review, you would know that I loved the blue one and my thoughts on this one are pretty similar.

Product Description:

Big and blendable 2-in-1 color rich pencil that can be used as shadow or liner. Creamy smooth, long-lasting, water-resistant, crease-proof and paraben-free formula. The next generation of shadows that you sharpen.Apply the pencil directly to the eyelid, then blend it out with your finger or a brush. After use, always replae the cap so the tip does not dry out. Easily sharpens with Milani’s Duo Sharpener.

How To Apply:

Tip: To extend the wear, apply your foundation or pressed powder on entire eyelid before applying your eye shadow. This eliminates any oils your lids may have which can cause your eye shadow to crease.

My Experience with Milani Shadow Eyes 12hr Pencil – Green Safari:

This product is so true to its every claim! For a cream eyeshadow, it lasts all day, literally. It does not crease on my normal lids, though for oily-skinned girls, I would definitely suggest a primer, or setting this with an eyeshadow, but the color is so beautiful that it is better to go for a primer than spoil it using another color over it that can dull this bright beautiful green! One of the reasons behind it not creasing has to be that it is so pigmented that in a swipe, you get the maximum color output and you would not need multiple swipes that would in turn later crease.

Milani has decent packaging, nothing fancy about this one, but it helps to have the same color body as that of the pencil, as it makes it easy while finding it, if you have multiple colors from this collection. The biggest downside here is that, when you sharpen the jumbo pencil, you tend to lose some product.

The color is a shimmery, deep green, the shimmer being on the gold side. The shimmers are tiny and not at all glittery. Blending this eye pencil is not that easy as it starts to set on application, but you still get a minute or so to blend it out. I usually prefer blending the edges using a similar green powder color. This color does last all day on the eyelids, but on the water line, it tends to fade after a couple of hours.  You would need to set it with a powder, of similar color or translucent to ensure that it stays on longer.

In the swatch below, the left one is a single swipe, the middle one is multiple swipes, and on the right it has been blended out as much as possible. As you can see, there is hardly much difference in the single and multiple swipes color pay off.

On the eyes, I have it on without any other eyeshadow over it, just some concealer around it.

Pros of Milani Shadow Eyes 12hr Pencil – Green Safari:

  • Rich color pay off, the product is very pigmented, one swipe is always enough.
  • Works just as well on its own, or can be used as a base too.
  • Does not budge from eyelids even after 12+ hours (on normal eyelids).
  • The color – a deep beautiful royal green.
  • Can be safely used on the water line too.
  • If set with a powder, stays on all day long.
  • Eyeshadows adhere to it very well, even pigments (provided, you work immediately after placing the color).
  • Has a gold sheen to it, which looks very subtle, as the color itself sets matte.
  • When light falls on it, the shimmering effect is beautiful!

Cons of Milani Shadow Eyes 12hr Pencil – Green Safari:

  • By sharpening it, one would lose a lot of product.
  • Disappears from the waterline after 3 hours or so. Needs to be set if using on waterline.

IMBB Rating:

4.5.5, because its not available easily in India.

Do I Recommend Milani Shadow Eyes 12hr Pencil – Green Safari?

Definitely! If such colors are your thing, then you will absolutely love this product!

Will I Repurchase Milani Shadow Eyes 12hr Pencil – Green Safari?
