Moroccanoil Weightless Hydrating Mask for Fine Dry Hair Review

Hi friends,

I had read many positive reviews about the brand “Morroccanoil” and was looking forward to try a product from them. Hence I picked up Moroccanoil’s Weightless Hydrating Mask as it is especially designed for my kind of hair type – fine and dry.

Packaging:
The hair mask comes in the brand’s standard blue-hued tub with a white cap. I found the tub very shower friendly, as it is convenient to use when my hands are wet. The texture of the tub’s exterior is rough and hence it is easy to grip the tub while in shower.  However, the only thing I have to take care is to remove the water in case it collects on the mask during shower. The hair mask is white in color and true to its name, has a very “weightless” feel to it, like a whipped cream. The fragrance of the mask is very pleasant and fresh smelling. Moroccanoil also has hair masks available as Intense Hydrating mask, Restorative Hair Mask and Smoothing Mask.

My Experience with Moroccanoil Weightless Hydrating Mask for Fine Dry Hair:

I apply one scoop of the hair mask to my shoulder-length shampooed hair. I usually keep the hair mask for 10-15 minutes and then rinse it off. The hair mask goes very easily on my wet hair and I can cover all my hair strands thoroughly. Though the hair mask can be applied on scalp as well, but I read in the ingredients that it contains silicone.  Hence I apply only from the mid length of the hair to the hair tips.

The hair mask is very easy to rinse off from the hair without leaving any residue. Once I use the hair mask, I do not feel the requirement to apply additional conditioner to my hair strands. I have extremely dry hair with lot of fly-aways. I find that when I use this hair mask, my hair shows significantly less knots and tangles.

My hair feels significantly even and manageable. The fragrance of the hair mask continues to stay in the hair even after rinsing. The fragrance stays for 3-4 days after which I usually wash my hair again. I was really glad that the hair mask did not make my hair flat. My hair continued to have a bounce to it but with added softness.

Due to my hair’s coarse texture, I did not find immediate shine, but my hair felt healthy and not parched.  The argan oil and shea butter content helps to provide additional moisture to my dry hair. The only issue is when I keep using the hair mask, my hair is very manageable. Once I stop using the hair mask, my hair again returns to being frizz prone.

So far, it has been very useful for my dry hair. It is more intense and heavy duty than my Dove conditioner. I found the product as a very good pampering treatment for my hair and hence I use it once a week.

Pros of Moroccanoil Weightless Hydrating Mask for Fine Dry Hair:

  • Helpful in making hair manageable with lesser tangles especially for fine and dry hair.
  • Only a small amount is sufficient to coat thoroughly the hair strands.
  • Fragrance of the hair mask is pleasant and fresh which continues to stay in the hair for 3-4 days.

  • Argan oil and Shea butter content help to provide additional moisture to hair.
  • Very good pampering treatment for hair, which can be used once/twice a week.

Cons of Moroccanoil Weightless Hydrating Mask for Fine Dry Hair:

  • Contains silicones.
  • Very pricey.
  • Once the product is discontinued, hair resorts to being frizz-prone again, so the effects are temporary.

IMBB Rating:

3/5

Would I Repurchase Moroccanoil Weightless Hydrating Mask for Fine Dry Hair?

No, not buying this product again as it is too pricey and the effects on hair is not long lasting either. Instead, I would prefer to use the hair shampoo and conditioner from Moroccanoil and see how they fare on my hair!

  1. Jomol….you are right….moroccan oil is synonym for argan oil….and this brand is also named as ‘Moroccanoil’ 😀
