I am back again with my favorite brand and this time the product is totally different from the usual eyeshadows or lip products. This is a colored base for eyeshadow; I think this kind of product is basically used for intensifying and popping up the Eyeshadow colours. This is totally a new thing for me, what I liked in the product is the angled tip, it’s effortless to work with it in different ways.

Product Details: Create the look with this fantastic 3 in1 Contour Eye Pen. The angles of the nib allows you to create different looks, whatever your occasion. Add drama by creating big and bold eyes, go glamorous for a soft and sultry effect, or define eyes for an ultra chic finish.

Packaging: The pen comes packed in an outer cardboard box, with a shade indicating sticker and steps to use it in different ways. The liner comes in a shiny black color, two –way retractable pen form. The eye liner looks exactly like a pen; others would confuse it with a pen. The packaging is decent and easy to use.

My Take on MUA 3 in 1 eXtreme Contour Liner in Dark Brown:

About the product: As the name suggests in the outer pack ‘angled shadow liner’ it’s an eyeshadow color base product in liner form, basically used for the smoked eye look by blending the product, it can’t be used as a liner because of the creamy, non-setting & extremely oil based texture of it. And if you’re planning to use it as a liner only, setting it with some translucent powder is must to avoid the color from smudging. It’s super easy to use the product, you can use it to draw a thin line of liner or use the widest part with the angled point of the pencil, you can work like a pro in making perfect winged line, even if you’re a beginner. The pencil can be worked with different angles of the single tip, that’s why it has been named ‘3 in 1 contour pen’.

Shade: ‘Dark brown’ is a pretty dark chocolate brown, without any metallic sheen or shimmer in it; the color is completely creamy matte brown. I love my eye makeup stuffs to be brown, and so this sheen free brown shade was a must have for me. Definitely the shade is perfect to wear everyday as eyeliner or as an eyeshadow in all over the lid.

Texture and Pigmentation: The liner has a very creamy smooth and oil based texture. The moment you open it and swipe the color, you’ll definitely get the idea of how creamy it is, like butter. It glides like a dream on the lids and super easy to blend, as the formula is non – drying. The liner is much pigmented, and the color is very buildable. One swipe is enough to give the full color on eyes, but for more intensity 2 swipes of the product is required.

Staying Power: I have no exact idea of the staying power of this product, but if you’re using it as eyeliner and setting it with some powder, it will last you for hardly 2 hrs and that too is possible if you don’t touch or rub your eyes. As the texture is creamy, it’s a perfect product to be used as an eyeshadow base only or for Smokey eye look. The liner is safe to use on water line, but the color smudges badly on waterline. I would suggest those beauties who have super oily lids should avoid this, because it’s an oil based product.

• Nice matte brown color, will suit every skin tone.
• A multipurpose product, though doesn’t works great as eyeliner.
• Because of the angled tip you can work to get different eye looks.
• Blending is super easy, that’s what we need to do for perfect Smokey eye.
• Packaging is decent, easy to use and travel friendly.
• The texture is super creamy & smooth like butter.
• Great to be used as a base for brown, black or darker eye shadows.
• It glides so easily on eyelids without dragging.
• Pigmentation is great, and the color is very buildable.

Cons of MUA 3 in 1 eXtreme Contour Liner in Dark Brown:

• The non setting formula doesn’t make it good to use as an eyeliner.
• The oil based texture does make it easy to blend, but there are also chances of smudging.
• Staying power is zero if you’re not setting it with powder. One rub of fingers will take the color off eyes.
• Smudges and spreads badly when used in waterline. Otherwise it’s completely safe to use on waterline, won’t irritate eyes.
• MUA products are not easily available in India.

Will I Recommend MUA 3 in 1 eXtreme Contour Liner in Dark Brown?

The product is something different, and there are wide range of shades to choose from, all suitable for every eyeshadow color, I bought one more shade in this, which is something between green & khaki. The product is very versatile, though it doesn’t works great as eyeliner, but still the matte brown makes it very admirable for me.
