MUA Extreme Felt Eyeliner Review

MUA Extreme Felt Eyeliner Review

Bonjour beau filles!

My eye makeup is always taken for granted by me because I wear specs and my history says that I can make a perfect zig-zag hilly track with a liquid eyeliner on my lids because I am a civil engineer *woot*Anyway, jokes apart, my only savior are felt tip eyeliners because liquid eyeliners leave me shaking in the boots the moment I hold them. I dislike lead pencils because they smudge and my gel eyeliner is waiting in the stash, yet to be tried for the first time. MUA Extreme Felt Eyeliner Pen was on my wish list since more than a year because I have heard some good reviews about it, but it was mostly out of stock, which further ensured that this is going to be a hit. Read on to find out whether my inquisition was worth waiting or just a disappointment.

MUA Extreme Felt Eyeliner

Product Description:

Enhance your eyes with this amazing extreme felt tip eyeliner. The easy to use pen creates dramatic and powerful eyes. Apply in one quick and easy swoop across upper and lower lash lines. For a feline effect, flick line upwards outer corners.

Ingredients:

MUA Extreme Felt Eyeliner

Price:

$3.5 plus shipping – (Made in UK).

Packaging:

The felt tip eyeliner pen comes in a black, sleek packaging, sealed with a plastic coating. It is made of plastic and is light as a feather. The felt tip is good and can make both thin and thick lines, according to the pressure applied. All the details are engraved in silver which makes it look like an expansive eyeliner. The cap closes with a lock and air tight, so never worry about carrying it in purse. Just keep it upside down in the pencil holder in the vanity and it is going to last you at least a month without drying, even if used daily. Whenever you intend to use it for the first time, make sure you have 2-3 minutes spare to open the plastic wrapping.

My Take on MUA Extreme Felt Eyeliner:

First of all, I was disappointed with the shade the moment I swatched it on my wrist. I like my eyeliners to be well pigmented and dark black, with opacity. This felt tip eyeliner pen is not that jet black and opaque. Also, I felt the consistency is a bit watery though it dries really fast. It settles to a matte finish. You can create any thickness of line depending on the pressure you apply; from thin to thick and mediocre as well. The praiseworthy part is the ease in application. You don’t essentially need to be a master at eyeliner application to handle this. The lines created with MUA Extreme Felt Eyeliner are straight and neat. However, multiple swipes are required to create a nice line because of the not-so-good pigmentation. I mean, it is just acceptable and could have been much better. It doesn’t flake after application; neither smudges. I have never tried it on waterline because my eyes are very sensitive, but this doesn’t irritate me. It lasts for at least four hours on eyelids and better stays with a primer.

MUA Extreme Felt Eyeliner

The intensity tones down after 2 hours of application. The eyeliner is very lightweight on eyelids. It is not a waterproof eyeliner but water splashes and sweat won’t remove it until and unless you rub it. It is easy to remove using wet wipes or by washing face with your regular face wash. This is like a marker pen, so this is going to be a good eyeliner choice for beginners who want to have precise lines. It is very helpful in creating winged looks because felt tip is really workable and the length of the pen is quite facilitating. The felt tip is firm but still moveable, so creates flicks on corners efficiently. The eyeliner gets better in a day or two after the first application, but the only downside I found is not that jet black pigmentation; it seems rather grey when applied.

Pros of MUA Extreme Felt Eyeliner:

  • Beautiful packaging, lightweight and sturdy.
  • The cap closes with a lock making it airtight.
  • Very travel friendly.
  • Felt tip is one of the very best I have ever used.
  • Dries fast after application and feels lightweight.
  • Lasts for at least 4 hours.
  • Water splashes don’t remove it until you rub it.
  • Very easy application, especially for beginners.
  • Can give variably thin and thick lines.
  • Produces well-defined precise lines.
  • Easy to remove with wet wipes or make up remover.
  • Winged eye looks and flicks can be created easily using this eyeliner.
  • Will last you a month even if used every day.
  • Matte finish.
  • Doesn’t smudge or flake.
  • Easy on lower lash line too.
  • Doesn’t irritate eyes.
  • Affordable.

Cons of MUA Extreme Felt Eyeliner:

  • Initially, you will get a bit watery consistency.
  • The downside is that it is rather dull black or grey, not jet black eyeliner.
  • Fades after 2 hours of application.
  • Pigmentation is average which requires several swipes to get a jet black and well defined line on upper lashes.

IMBB Rating:

Now, I am really confused how to rate it. Everything is good, it has more pros than cons but still, it is not the blackest of black eyeliner.  So, I would like to give it a 3.25/5.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase MUA Extreme Felt Eyeliner?

If you can settle with the pigmentation, then go ahead as the price doesn’t drill a hole in the wallet. For my own repurchase, I am still not sure whether I will or not.

    1. exactly arpita. seriously before opening it, i have had very high expectations from it because i have been alluring it since long!

    1. exactly, even that’s not what i can conclude as a brown one! i can put in double money to get a black eyeliner, BLACK!!! *woot*

    1. yes, that is a fact that apart from the pigmentation, all is well but still i would prefer to get a black eyeliner instead of this one…. 😀

    1. *happydance* *happy dance* Rati ma’am, you know your comment is one of the happiest thing i experience in my day to day life…i swear….hugs *puchhi*
*thankyou* so much, for the comment, the praise, acknowledgment and everything… me too really wished it was true black…anyways i am on the hunt too….we will sort it out soon….:)

    1. well, either it is grey or brownish…..but not black sindhu, i mena blackest black….because different screen pixel and color settings make it look variable to everyone 🙂

  1. Nice reviw.. I like liners which are jet black… For me Lakme felt tip liner(reviewed by Rati) has been the deepest black in felt tip liners so far 🙂
