Hope you all are doing well. It’s been 9 days since I last wrote for IMBB and trust me it feels like forever. So to make up for the lost time, I am back with a bang and do expect a lot of back to back reviews as I have recently done a haul with my first ever IMBB sponsorship. Being a true lipstick lover, my haul consisted of a lot of lipsticks and I promise to review each of them asap. So for today, I have the MUA Luxe Whipped Velvet Lip Color in the shade “Ritzy.” This was the first time that I tried something from the brand and I must say that the experience was pretty good. So let’s hop on to the review.
Sweep this luxurious Whipped Velvet over your lips for an ultra-soft and subtle pop of colour. This super smooth new formulation won’t dry out your lips ensuring you have the perfect pout at all times. Try using MUA’s Clear Lip Liner before applying to ensure your colour stays in place.
695 INR for 6 ml.
My Experience with MUA Luxe Ritzy Whipped Velvet Lip Cream:
The lip cream comes in a plastic tube with a black screw cap which is the typical packaging for most of the lip creams available in the market. The tube exhibits the actual colour of the lip cream and hence it wouldn’t be an issue for a hoarder to locate the shade in the stash. It has a doe-foot applicator which does a beautiful job in spreading the product evenly over the lips. The only downside to the packaging is the fact that a lot of product gets accumulated around the mouth while replacing the screw cap back in place and every time a clean tissue is required to wipe off the accumulation.
The lip cream has a yummy vanilla fragrance to it which can be felt the moment the cap is opened and I love it as it’s my favourite fragrance for lip products. It’s not overpowering at all and would definitely not be an issue for the sensitive noses. The fragrance stays for almost an hour post application after which it starts to fade off. The lip cream however has no taste to it at all, which I feel is great as I feel that lip products with a taste are pretty disturbing as sometimes we end up licking up the colour unconsciously.
Coming to the shade “Ritzy,” I would describe it as an out and out Barbie pink shade. It’s a super pretty bright pink which looks warmer on my warm NC 42 skin tone, but on cooler complexions, I have seen it looking way more cool toned. Personally, I feel this would be a great pick for fairer complexions and for my NC42 skin tone, I feel a little bit of work is required to do full justice to the pretty shade. I would however suggest girls with darker skin tones than mine to test it out before buying as it might look a bit too bright/neonish on deeper complexions.
Texture-wise, these lip creams are a breeze to apply. They are super moisturising and glide on the lips like butter. They really help in softening the lips and do not feel drying at all. Lip balm can totally be skipped while wearing this which is a plus as I hate layering lip products.
In terms of pigmentation though I find it quite average and I was expecting a bit more in this department. It gives a semi sheer coverage in one swipe and two to three swipes are a must to get a semi-opaque colour on the pout. The lip cream has a pretty decent staying power of 4 -5 hours and fades with meals leaving behind a pretty pink stain which stays for a couple of hours more. It does transfer a bit, but nothing that some blotting cannot take care of.
Finally, summing up the pros and cons:
Pros of MUA Luxe Ritzy Whipped Velvet Lip Cream:
- Pretty shade.
- Pretty packaging.
- Yummy fragrance.
- Really moisturising.
- Doesn’t highlight the dry areas on the lips.
- Good staying power.
Cons of MUA Luxe Ritzy Whipped Velvet Lip Cream:
- I feel it’s a bit overpriced.
- Was really expecting a bit more pigmentation.
- There’s a lot of product accumulation around the mouth of the tube.
- Transfers a wee bit.
Overall, it’s a great product to have and I would really recommend it to all the girls who are looking out for good lip creams as quality wise, this one’s pretty amazing. I am a little disappointed with the pigmentation though as I really like full coverage products for my lips, but for girls who don’t have any pigmentation on the lips as such they would quite enjoy using this product.
Love note for the IMBB Team:
Thank you everyone for taking makeup to such great levels and thank you for the idea of the IMBB Sponsored scheme. It feels like a great reward and I feel so lucky to get it and I am sure that the other writers feel similarly too. Even a few years back, nobody could even imagine that makeup could take such an important place in our lives. Thanks to IMBB, many women have found friendship, bonding, work satisfaction, inner and outer beauty all at one place. You guys are doing a fantabulous job and totally loving the way this baby called IMBB is growing every single day and I am proud to be able to contribute even the tiniest bit that I can to its growth. Love you guys from the core of my heart and thank you so very much for giving me a platform to express myself.
