MUA Pretty Pastels Eyeshadow Palette Review

MUA Pretty Pastels Eyeshadow Palette

Eyeshadows are the least touched thing in my case. I have heard very nice comments about MUA palettes, specially the undress me and undress me too palettes, which are dupes of Naked palettes, but they are mostly out of stock. I picked up this one for occasional use in day time because I have never invested in single eyeshadows. The soft pastel shades and the look of the palette always attracted me, so this palette is mine today. The review has been pending since months and finally I am writing it down. Stay with me to explore this one.

My take on MUA Pretty Pastels Eyeshadow Palette:

The packaging: The palette is sleek, black and looks good with the transparent cover, which closes tightly and makes it safe to keep in a travel bag. The 12 shades are organized in two rows in circular pans. You will find a double edged sponge applicator inside, which ig good for troubleshooting use. The palette is delicate and should be handled with care so as not to drop it ever.

Texture and finish of eye shadows: The texture is soft, finely milled and buttery. The shades are sheer and unfortunately, chalky. They blend well with professional eye brushes; but if you try to blend them with sponge applicator, they are going to end up drastically. They get muddy while blending; like you start blending and the shade starts to disappear. All the shades have pearly finish.

Shade range: Starting from left of top row, the shades it houses are off-white, baby pink, medium brown, olive green, ice blue, lavender purple. In the bottom row from left to right is pale chartreuse, light orange, crème, light violet, candy pink and dull grey. All the shades are shimmery, but the shimmer is not over the top. The swatches are taken without primer. The shades provide a very good opportunity to combine for a versatile and wearable look. All the shades are perfect for brow bone highlighting with any EOTD.

Pigmentation: Pigmentation is very average. Though I work with the fact that these are pastel shades and day wear eyeshadows, but you can see in the swatches that the off-white shade and light violet are typically poor in pigmentation. Rest, 10 shades are decent and can be built up. With a good primer, the palette will definitely perform better.

Longevity: The shades lasted 4 hours on my eyelids. With primer, they last 6 hours atleast. There is no fallout in the pan; none of the shade creates mess.

Pros of MUA Pretty Pastels Eyeshadow Palette:

• Sleek and travel friendly palette.
• 12 wisely compiled pearly shades for wearable day-time looks.
• Ten shades out of twelve have decent & buildable pigmentation.
• Soft buttery texture and finely milled.
• No fallout in the pans.
• Acceptable staying time.
• Fairly priced.
• Can create beautiful EOTD’s if you know how to play with pastels.

Cons of MUA Pretty Pastels Eyeshadow Palette:

• Contains Parabens.
• Applicator is surely of no-use.
• Shades are chalky.
• Pearly shades and 2/12 have poor pigmentation.
• Do not think of wearing them without primer.
• Blending is easy but the shades fade when you start blending.

Rating: 3.5/5

Recommendation and repurchase: Hmmm, if I consider this palette, I have mixed feelings. I won’t repurchase this one but MUA has convinced me to pick up others whenever I get a chance.
