My Experience with MUA Skin Define Matte Perfect Foundation Review:

The foundation comes in a pretty lightweight beige color plastic bottle with a red cap. It has a pump that keeps control on the product and makes it easy to use. I like this pretty travel-friendly bottle. MUA offers 6-7 shades in this matte foundation range, and I have the shade ‘Beige’. I have quite medium olive skin tone and this shade beige suits decently on me. Wish it has a little warm tone in it then it will be a perfect match for me. But, they have quite good shade range for a variety of skin tones.

Foundation has a soft smooth thick texture that blends nicely on the skin but, I need a very small amount of product, otherwise, it feels a little heavy on the skin, and needs some effort to blend it properly. It contains jojoba oil which keeps your skin soft and hydrated for long and never feels dry. Also, it smells like that oil. Now, if I compare it with Maybelline and L’Oreal matte foundation, they provide a perfect matte look, but it can’t provide that perfect non-shiny matte finish. It provides a semi matte dewy finish which is almost like a creamy foundation. This formula is not that light weight.

I have oily skin and I always prefer lightweight non-oily products but, due to the presence of oil, it is not like that. This finish is flawless and smooth that looks very nice on the skin. Yet it provides really good coverage almost medium to full, which is a great point about it. Though I am not a fan of full coverage still it looks nice and does its job perfectly to even out my skin tone and makes my skin beautiful. It can hide medium spots, blemishes and pigmentation. This is really good who want a good coverage. It also hides redness around my nose and works on dark circles too. I can also layer it up and can build up the coverage but, I recommend, using a single layer because it is quite heavy a thick foundation. It might make your skin oily with multiple layers. Even it can’t control oil with a normal layer. My T-zone turns oily after 2-3 hours and it makes me little dull by the end of the day. It must need a good oil controlling compact powder.

With a primer and compact power, this foundation stays nicely on the skin but, my skin looks shiny after few hours and somehow I am not comfortable with its result. Hence I always prefer to carry a blotting paper to keep my skin fresh. Otherwise, it suits me nicely without breaking me out. Also, it doesn’t crease or settles into the fine lines and is quite easy to remove.
Overall, it is good for normal to dry skin and suits nicely in this winter season, but it’s not a perfect matte foundation for oily skin. In this dry season it makes me oily so how can it survive hot Indian summer.

    1. Exactly this packaging looks very similar with Bourjois. This is a medium quality brand but they offers some good eye shadow palettes and I love MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powders.. 🙂
