MUA Supreme Power Pout Acrylic High Voltage Pigment Review

Hello girlies,

I am totally checking out MUA’s new launches lately and I decided to try their “Acrylic PowerPouts” first as they seemed really exciting. So, out of the 4 shades that I picked, I have already reviewed three – Unwrapped, Decorous, and Infinity. In this post, I have another pink for you guys and this shade is called “Supreme.”

My Experience with MUA Supreme Power Pout Acrylic High Voltage Pigment:

Packaging: The powerpout comes in a sleek bottle which is colour coded and hence it is very easy to spot them if you own a few of these. It has a black cap which stays tight and can be easily carried around in a clutch or a handbag. MUA has also mentioned the shade name at the back of the bottle.

Acrylic power pout

The wand is perfect as it has a slant tip which makes it glide smoothly on the lips creating a perfect pout.

Applicator

Shade: The shade “Supreme” seemed like a nice pink that would complement Indian skin tones well, but when I applied it for the first time, I realized that the shade isn’t for Indian skin tones. Although, it’s a very pretty and extremely beautiful milky pink shade which would give you Barbie pink lips in seconds, I am not as fair as Barbie, so it washed me out a little bit. It is a super bold color which is definitely not for the weak-hearted.

Lip gloss

The milky hints of the pink shade would wash out most of the complexions. It wouldn’t complement complexions with yellow undertones, in fact, it will look very weird. This pink is actually a very gorgeous color and would look good on very fair skin tones. I would probably prefer this shade as a nail paint, but not as a lip color.

Consistency and Finish:  The “acrylic powerpout” lip lacquer is really thick and creamy in consistency which makes it glide very smoothly on the lips. Just one swipe and I have the entire colour on my lips since the pigmentation is intense and totally opaque. But at times, it feels very thick, and does look acrylic paint on the lip, which I don’t like at all!  The finish is very glossy and creamy initially, but after a few hours, it settles to a matte finish with sheen and then a stain. These powerpouts can rightly be categorized as liquid lipsticks or velvet matte finish lip crèmes.

Staying Power:  This powerpout stays for a super long time, precisely 7-8 hours with full meals and snacks, although, it loses its intensity and glossiness after meals and water sips! It does settles into fine lines, but I keep pursing my lips so that works pretty well for me. It transfers a lot since the consistency is creamy and the shade is too bold. After some 5-6 hours, it settles to a matte finish with a slight sheen and then finally into a bright fuchsia pink stain which easily comes off with a make-up remover or cleansing milk.

Swatches on hand

Overall, these powerpouts are damn good as far as the quality is concerned, but the shades are too bold to handle and wouldn’t really complement the warm undertones of Indian skin tones, though you can try if you have pink undertones.

Cons of MUA Supreme Power Pout Acrylic High Voltage Pigment:

  • Extremely creamy which is why it transfers a lot.
  • Settles into fine lines and on the corners of the lips.
  • Bleeds a little after meals, which looks tacky as the color is very bold.
  • Looks extremely bold on me and washed me out, would do the same for most of the Indian skin tones.
  • Extremely thick texture, like acrylic paints.

Would I Repurchase/Recommend MUA Supreme Power Pout Acrylic High Voltage Pigment?

No, I would rather settle for a very hot pink that will make my skin brighter and would complement my skin tone. You got to stay away from this as only 12-13% women out there would dare to wear such bold shades.

IMBB Rating:
3.5/5 (I find it super bold, but it is true to all its claim).

I would recommend to splurge on MUA lipsticks instead of these power pouts, not everyone’s cup of tea!
