My Experience with Murad Clarifying Cleanser For Acne:
First let me tell you about my skin type. I have combination skin which is relatively dry in winters. I do not suffer from much acne except 1-2 zits occasionally. I got this cleanser for my cousin who suffers from acne and then tried it on myself also when I broke out some days ago. Firstly, this cleanser smells like menthol and bleach. It’s a transparent fluid and it does not lather that much. So finally, I tried it after removing my makeup for a week. It cleared the acne completely in 2 days. BUT! It made my skin like parchment paper. My skin became completely dry and red. No amount of moisturizer could combat that dryness and redness. One more thing, I am again noticing small bumps on my face which means this cleanser broke me out and also irritated my skin.
Also, the menthol in this product has a very strong scent. It irritates my eyes to an extent that they go red. I know Murad is a great brand, and maybe it’s just my case and I might be allergic to the menthol or salicylic acid or any other ingredient in it, but I am not using this product again and it’s a complete dud in my case. I will continue to use my Himalaya neem face wash which helps control acne and comes at 1/20th the price. It works so much better in so many ways and in case you are wondering what happened to my cousin, better sense prevailed over her and she did not use it because she was out of town and did not take this cleanser with her, and till today she thanks her stars for that 😛
Pros of Murad Clarifying Cleanser For Acne:
- Cleanses well.
- Heals acne initially.
- Contains many natural oils.
- Maybe it’s just my skin that is allergic to the menthol or other ingredients. If you want to take a leap of faith and try it, please do, it might work for you.
- You can try it on back acne. It might work there. Even I am planning to do the same now 😛
Cons of Murad Clarifying Cleanser For Acne:
- Broke me out again.
- Made my skin extremely dry and red (maybe due to the salicylic acid).
- Strong menthol and bleach smell.
- Not available in India.
Overall, it did nothing to my acne and irritated my skin. I am not going to repurchase it nor recommend it.
