My Makeup and Skincare Favourites From 2016

Hey, beautiful women!

I have been planning to make this list for so many days and finally I am done! Phew! I decided to compile some of my beloved products from last year. Most of the products have been budget buys, and I have really stuck to basics this time. While I experimented with certain things, a few stayed as the staples in my kit.

Let’s get started!

Face Makeup:

I really learnt face makeup this year. The art of blending foundation seamlessly into the skin without appearing like a mask was the highlight for me. I am not into contouring so, you won’t find any contouring products in my favourites list.

Foundation:

Maybelline Fit Me Matte+Poreless Foundation: I would say it is THE foundation of the year. It gives a medium-opaque coverage, smooth finish and is easy to blend. Loveeee it!

Lotus Ecostay Nourishing Foundation: I got this on reading Rati mam’s review and I can say that I love it for a fresh natural makeup. This is a very winter appropriate product and is perfect for daytime too.

Coloressence Face and Body Illuminator Lotion: This is the one I reach out for whenever I want a fresh radiant look.

Essence Camouflage 2 in 1 Makeup and Concealer: I got this recently, but I like its weightless matte finish. Detailed review coming soon.

Blush and Highlighters:

Hardly experimented with them much, but I extensively used the ones I own. Coloressence Satin Smooth Highlighter Blusher SH-7, Hard Candy Pin up Baked Blush and MUA Undress your Skin Shimmer Highlighter in Radiant Cashmere and Opalescent Amber are my favourites.

Lipsticks:

I loved Vivid 6 from Maybelline Vivid Matte Range and reached for it very often. I enjoyed using Lotus ColorStylo Chubby Lip Color Rouge-Desire, Coloressence Rose Petal Lip Pencil, Lakme 9 to 5 Mulberry Work, Lotus Tomato Squash Lip Gloss and Elle 18 Matte Pink Show Lipstick. Annnddd, I finally bought MAC Ruby Woo!

Eye Makeup:

I guess I didn’t reach out for many colors. So, I stuck to my favourite Makeup Revolution palette which is the Big Love Palette, Covergirl Tropical Fusion (for the occasional bold color) and Freedom Smoulder Mono Eyeshadow (this is an amazing steel-grey shade).

Lakme Eyeconic Kajal: I have tried nearly every brand of kajal, but I keep coming back to this!

Rimmel London Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in #250 Emerald Sparkle: This one is sheer love!

L’Oreal Paris Infallible Silkissime Pure Purple and L’Oreal Ebony Wear Infinite Silky Powder Eye Liner: Lovely shades, creamy texture and good staying power together makes them killer liners! I wish they were retractable, though.

Rimmel Supercurler Mascara: Used it quite late in the year, but loved it.

Skincare:

As mentioned earlier I stuck to basics. Patanjali products suit my skin well and I loved their Neem-Aloe Vera Face Pack, Neem-Tulsi Face wash and Aloe Vera Gel with KesarChandan. I cannot live without their body ubtan, which I mix with milk or rose water to get a radiant skin. I use the Patanjali BoroSafe cream often which moisturises my sensitive skin. From Yves Rocher, the Sebo Vegetal Cream, Pink Grapefruit Vitamin C Face Mist and Cranberry Cooling Mask were absolute hits. Aroma Magic Sensitive Skin Oil was a great one, but, sadly the glass bottle broke!

Face Wash: I stuck to Jovees Papaya Face wash for quite a long time then switched to Lotus Professional PhytoRx Deep Pore Cleansing Face Wash, both of which are great cleansers for my crazy skin.

Sunscreen: Neutrogena Dry Touch SPF 50 Sunblock and Lotus Herbals Matte Gel SPF 50 were my sun saviours in 2016.
Lastly, I always keep a bottle of medicated calamine lotion handy to suit my troubled and easily irritable skin.

Bath and Body Products:

Nail paints from Coloressence are great and I might review them soon. Hand creams from Les Fleurs De Provence, which I got as a gift from Australia.

Lotus Spahhh Wild Rose Body Scrub: I am a huge fan of this! I kept on switching body lotions, though I am really fond of Vaseline Cocoa Glow.

For hair care, I stuck to Schwarzkopf shampoo and conditioners, but I absolutely swear by their Million Gloss range. Sadly I used all the three (shampoo-conditioner and mask) up, but I might repurchase them. I also liked Osmo Intensive Deep Repair Mask and Garnier Ultra Blends Oil-in-Cream.

Almay Makeup Remover Pads: They are super convenient to use and extremely effective, hence definitely getting a second pack.

I also decided on my wish list for 2017,
• A classy perfume. ( I need to find my HG scent ASAP)
• A great n*de eyeshadow palette.
• More liquid lipsticks.
• Luxury Brushes.
Beauty Blender.
