My Updated Skin Care and Hair Care Routine

rati-skincare-1-2

Hi Everyone, πŸ™‚
I haven’t done a skincare and hair care routine in a while. Since I am at mom’s home these days, I thought I’d show you everything that I am using these days. Couldn’t be more appropriate time to show you all the must haves in my kit. πŸ™‚
There are some products that are not photographed. I basically forgot to bring them with me. πŸ˜› So I’d add them to the list. πŸ™‚

To give you a little background. I have normal to dry skin but my skin broke out very badly during this recent trip to Thailand. I was already recovering from a breakout and then I tried a cream from Aesop, it worsened things for me.It broke me out like crazy. So I simplified most of my skincare, got down to basics and added the products that have never failed me. The scarring on my skin is still fading but my skin has cleared by now. I went through worst skincare nightmare these last 15 days. All thanks to makeup, I could survive. Anyhoo, hope you like the post. πŸ™‚ I would love to know your skincare routines as well. Please share them in comments below. πŸ™‚

PS: All the titles are linked to their original reviews for your convenience. πŸ™‚
Face Care:

  • Garnier Neem Face wash : I find it too soapy and a bit dry for my skin but I still like it. It’s refreshing. I might stop using it once my skin is not too sensitive and pick something more hydrating for my skin esp since the weather is a bit cooler now. But it’s nice no brainer face wash.
  • Forest Essentials Rose Water and Panchpushp Water : The regular toners don’t work on my skin so these waters work as toners for me. Plus they are natural and smell great. Always keep them in these little travel bottles.
  • Forest Essentials Eternal youth Face Cream. Never stopping using it. It’s a staple.
  • Guerlain Orchid Eye Cream : One of the best eye creams I have EVER used. Hydrating, light, nourishing and luxurious. I’d review it for you all in the coming week.
  • Clarins Lotus Oil : This saved my skin.. like literally.
  • Lacto Calamine : Again a skin saviour. I pat it on days when I don’t need to my hydration or on days when my skin is very sensitive.
  • AESOP Scrub : It is my holy grail face scrub.
  • Clarins Sunscreen : I keep shuffling among various sunscreens from Clarins. i think they do a great job at their sun care range.
  • EOS Lip Balm : I keep changing my lip balms. This is the one I am using these days.
  • & Other Stories Hand Cream : This also I keep changing. Love hand creams by Aesop Β and L’occitane.
  • Aesop Body Balm : Smells like oranges and is super thick to nourish my dry skin.

Hair Care :
I have been trying a lot of new hair care products and all of them have just been okay. I have been using BBlunt Shampoo and Conditioner for normal to dry hair. It is nice but it’s not wow. Same with the Aesop shampoos and conditioners. I think I am going to go back to my old hair care routine. Nothing works better for my hair than L’occitane products.

That said I have included some new products in my routine and they Β are working amazing for me.

  • BBlunt Anti frizz Leave in conditioner : Leaves my hair tangle Free, soft and and frizz free. Pure Love. I used it all through my Thailand trip. So regretting not carrying it with me at home.
  • Toni & Guy Heat protectant Spray : Nice so far. I love the ease of use and how light it feels on hair.
  • BBlunt Dry Shampoo : I am a dry shampoo addict. This one is nice but it is not my holy grail. I loved the one by Bumble & bumble the most. But not available in India. I have the one by Batiste too but I like this one better because I feel Batiste one leaves my hair too dry.
  • BBlunt Straightening Iron : I think I want to write songs about this hair iron. Hands down the BEST HAIR IRON EVER USED. I have stopped using all my other hair irons. Until I got hands on this I didn’t realise that one hair iron change could make such a difference. It has temperature control, straightens hair like a pro and works quick. LOVE!!! Already taken photos for the review. Coming up soon.

  1. Please review the eye cream soon πŸ™‚

You are so right about the flat iron…it is amazing! If you can get karmin 100% ceramic flat iron, it is the best! Jose eber is also very good.

  2. Good to see your routine again. My staple day cream is also Lacto Calamine. I start using other creams for fun, but eventually return on this one only.
Plus I really want to thank you for the review of FE Eternal Youth Cream. After reading your review, I bought it and it IS the BEST thing that happened to my skin. Made my skin clearer and glowy. High point was when I got compliments from hubby for skin since he was literally in shock for the price difference between FE and Lacto Calamine. πŸ˜‰

  3. I always love to read your current fav products … You have awesome list di … My current skin care product is Lacto calamine for normal skin, patanjali rose water, Everyuth walnut scrub, Maybelline, grace cole and soultree lip balm…. For hair care I use Dove oil nourishing shampoo and conditioner which does wonder to my hair, occasionally I use Himalaya’s anti dandruff hair cream, and currently added Streax hair serum … This product did magic on my hair πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  4. That’s a nice list Rati..currently I m using clean n clear foaming face wash, besan, patanjali rose water, lacto calamine n kumkumadhi tailam for face..and for hair patanjali kesh kanti cleanser.

  5. Rati I am gonna buy all the products from your routines. I also want to improve my skin, it has been behaving badly despite all of my efforts. And my hair is forever gonna remain frizzy, I don’t even try now. πŸ˜€ I used to underestimate Bblunt big time before I actually tried some of their products. Very excited to see your flat iron’s review, I love mine but a new one won’t hurt me. πŸ˜› Happy a happy time at your mom’s place. πŸ™‚

    1. thankoo shikhs! I really liked the BBlunt products. They feel nice on hair. I didnt like the curl cream though but that’s not meant for my hair anyway. That flat iron is insaaanee! totally love it! would review it in a few days. πŸ™‚

  6. Rati, You have very beautiful hair for sure. Skin looks beautiful and dewy in pics. I wish we got Forest essentials easily in US. I miss many ayurvedic products/brands in US.. Sometimes order online or get from India with family or friends πŸ™
My skin care routine:Facewash- neutrogena naturals purifying facial cleanser, scrub – buff your stuff – body scrub, body wash- olay, mosturizer : aveeno, for face :lactocalamine, lipbalm : sephora. Hair care : auromere ayurvedic shampoo with neem. Using this for a month now. My hair had gone so unmanageable and dry. This shampoo is doing very good so far I am not even using conditioner with this shampoo.

    1. you know we keep craving for brands that are available to you and you keep craving for brands available to us. haha!!we have started geeting aveeno here quite easily. I was planning to give it a go. :))

I think you should use the conditioner. The oils from the scalp dont necessarily reach the ends of the hair – the reason for dry hair. so the conditioner adds that extra moisture to the ends.. Might want to give conditioner or serum a try. πŸ™‚

  7. hiii..rati…i used to read ur post all most all…bt frst tm i m going to cmmnt..i chked ur beauty routine..its really cool…nw i told u abt my skin nd hair routine…morning:i drink hot lemon honey water…7 piece of soaked almond…(beauty food :))for my CMT i use coronation deep-pore cleansing milk, aryanveda rose toner(smells really nice),gohnson’s baby lotion..,for my day cream i use nature’s snowwhite salsa cream, maybelline rose addict lip balm,nd for my hair i use professional l’oreal shampoo conditioner nd serum..egg olive oil mask once in 15 days, hot oil massage one night before shampoo…dats it.

  8. It’s a pleasure to read your skin care regimen, it seems quite simple yet effective.
I’m an ardent follower of TBS products, and it’s the only brand I use on my skin and hair.
For skin, Face wash, Serum, Day cream and Night cream from TBS Vitamin E range along with the recently added Vitamin E Overnight serum in oil for the dry weather.
For hair, TBS Rainforest Moisture Shampoo, Rainforest Balance conditioner and Wella serum.
I would give a try to Clarins Lotus oil if it suits Normal skin.

  9. The best thing for oil skin turned out to be oils! I mix argan, macula, rosehip and evening primrose and massage this every night…glowing skin, fading scars and not a single breakout!

  10. I totally louuu lacto calamine…when nothin else works for my skin…it always comes as a saviour….I was thinkin of tryin kerastase hair serum but will try bblunt…hehehe it was on discount on nykaa

  11. Hi Rati, loved reading the routine. Could you please advise if the FE Youth cream works for dry skin. I have really dry skin and was using the body shop vitamin E cream till for the past many months. However, with the onset of winters it has stopped working for me and still leaves my skin dry. Thanks in advance!

  16. Hello Rati,

These days I am starting my everyday looking at your posts πŸ˜‰ I find them refreshing!
    I have few questions..
    1. I have bought Clarins Lotus oil (I love its frangrance)looking at your posts but not very sure when exactly shall I use it πŸ™‚
    2. These days I have little dry skin and acne, thanks to all the medicines I had to take in recent past. Now, I use only sunscreen and no moisturising cream as weather is getting little warm here in Germany. Is it fine to do no moisturising?
    3. I have very long and healthy hair. They are mostly straight so I avoid ironing them. How often could we iron our hair to avoid damage?
    4. I use Weleda body moisturiser, its best moisturiser among the ones that I have tried. I wanted to review it for imbb, but not sure if the brand could be reviewed here. Pls let me know. Thanks .. n yes you always look lovely !
