To let you know, Botulinum toxin is derived from a bacterium called clostridium botulinum, which is harmful to humans by causing a form of food poisoning called Botulism.But as a matter of fact, for cosmetic purposes, minute amount is used which is potentially harmless.Thousands of medicines we use regularly are as poisonous as botox.

4.Myth: Botox makes you expressionless.

This is again a result of bad press. The treatment is targeted very carefully to freeze only specific muscles, if done properly, the muscles do move and the expressions are softer, not frozen.

5.Myth: This is a permanent treatment.

This treatment essentially blocks nerve impulses of specific muscles, over a period of three to four months, the nerves recover and function normally.

6. Myth: Botox is expensive and not very commonly accessible.

Initially, we saw only the rich, famous and celebs use it, but now nurses and dentists can also be certified to deliver the treatment, make sure you choose a qualified, registered and insured practitioner.

7.Myth: You need to carry on taking the injections.

This is the result of good effects like fading of lines and wrinkles hence people choose to take it again and again like 4 times a year should suffice if you do need to carry it on, it is perfectly fine to have periods of no injections in between if you choose to not have botox done.

8.Myth: This treatment has many side effects.

The side effects are almost nil, the clients are explained about the the discomfort or any other temporary side effects that might occur.

9.Myth: The treatment is only for the old.

People after the thirties often choose to go for it, but nowadays, lesser than 30 age group is also choosing to get botox done to get rid of premature wrinkles.

10.Myth: Botox can cause droopy eyelids.

Like I mentioned above, when done correctly, this side effect can be avoided, less than 2% patients may suffer with droopy eyelids temporarily after the treatment.

11.Myth: Botox injections are toxic to the body.

Botox is safe for the body, because the concentration of the toxin is very low. The minute toxin is delivered to a specific muscle hence there is no way the toxin would spread to other muscles as well.
