I try to give my maximum output so that all the viewers of IMBB can enjoy what they see and read. So today, I will be reviewing a lip pencil from NARS.

My Experience with NARS Satin Lip Pencil – Rikugien:

Colour:  The shade “Rikugien” is named after a garden in Tokyo, Japan – like all the other shades in this range that are named after gardens and parks from all around the world. The lip pencil is a muted warm pinkish shade which leans towards a more peachy pink in daylight while it is soft pink under artificial light. It is a very beautiful shade suitable for all skin tones, but it may change according to lip pigmentation.

Texture:  The texture of this lip pencil is awesome, I really don’t have any words to express the texture.  It literally glides like butter, so soft and smooth, that you might even go beyond your lip boundary. The satiny feel on my lips is too good. I can layer it on my lips without being cakey or heavy. It does not settle into lip lines or accentuate dry patches.

Finish:  It gives a very satiny finish true to its claims, neither glossy nor matte, a pure pleasure to indulge in. There is a slight frosty nature to this lip pencil which actually gives a beautiful sheen to the lips without making it garish.

Pigmentation and Coverage:  This lip pencil gives a sheer to moderate coverage. It does not give an opaque finish which can be a big “nay” for highly pigmented  lips. The colour pay-off is not very great, only 50% of the colour is deposited in a single swipe. It is a buildable colour, but does not give full coverage for highly pigmented lips.

Staying Power:  Even though this lip pencil has a medium colour pay-off, it stayed pretty amazingly on my lips for around 5 to 6 hours with light snacking in between. Then, it faded evenly with a light pink tint on my lips.

Fragrance:  There is no discernible smell to this lip pencil, but I feel it has a crayon like scent, nothing overpowering, so no worries.

Packaging:  The lip pencil comes in a black cardboard like outer cover which has all the details on it. The pencil itself is a black matte finish chubby stick with the base same colour as the shade inside. The packing is classy and strong, just throw it in your vanity and you are ready to travel. It needs to be sharpened, which cause a lot of wastage of the product.

Pros of NARS Satin Lip Pencil – Rikugien:

• A beautiful soft peachy pink shade suitable for all skin tones.
• It glides smoothly on the lips like butter without any tugging or pulling.
• It has a light frosty finish which gives a beautiful sheen to the lips.
• It is a buildable colour which can give full coverage to non-pigmented lips and moderate coverage to pigmented lips.
• It has a very good staying power in spite of medium colour payoff.
• Sturdy packaging, makes it quite travel friendly.

Cons of NARS Satin Lip Pencil – Rikugien:

• It has a medium colour payoff, which will not give full coverage to highly pigmented lips.
• Sharpening causes a lot of product wastage.

IMBB Rating:

4.5/5, I would recommend this shade for all skin tones, but if you have highly pigmented lips, do try it at the store first before spending your valuable money.

Yes, I would definitely get this shade, I am in love with the shade and the feel it gives to my lips.
