Hello beauties,
Hope all of you are doing fine! I am here to share another new release from NARS Cosmetics and it is one of their latest entries in NARS Satin lipsticks. Out of my excitement and curiosity, I immediately picked both satin lipsticks Banned Red and Rosecliff as soon as they made their debut in stores. I have been trying them since few weeks and love them for the texture, finish and quality. So today I will share my thoughts on the lovely shade Banned Red, a copper red which is getting my love every day.

My Experience with NARS Satin Lipstick – Banned Red:
The satin lipstick comes in black velvet touch matte bullet packaging and a shiny black cap with NARS printed in bold letters. It is pretty user-friendly and travel friendly packing over all.
The shade “Banned Red” as mentioned earlier is a vibrant satin copper red color which will flatter a variety of light/pale/dusky skin tones. I think I don’t have any such shade in my kit, may be because I always thought such wine, copper brown/reds are meant for older beauties. I mean I often notice such shades tend to flatter ageing beauties and even though I am also in a similar age group (turned 30 today), I don’t think I would like to present myself as an old lady for another 10 years :P. But this shade complements my skintone really well.
Talking about the formula, I like its gel kind of creamy satin formula which nicely adheres to my dry lips, almost feeling like velvet silk. I am impressed and as expected from NARS, the lipstick neither slips in lip lines nor clings to mild dry patches on my lips. I see pretty even toned, smooth finish with this shade. It is an intensely pigmented satin finish lipstick which only requires a second swipe for evening out the edges.
Needless to say, it has the most forgiving texture which makes it suitable for everyone including beauties with medium to highly pigmented lips as well as dry lips. However, it is not an intense hydrating lipstick to provide moisture; hence, exfoliation is recommended prior to wearing this shade. It won’t accentuate dryness though!
I see that the deep copper red color sits comfortably on my lips for good 4-5 hours with that creamy glossy finish which then settles onto a softer subtle sheen still prominent and visible for couple of hours that too with no touch ups and/or re-application. I think that the staying power is decent considering it’s a creamy satin lipstick, but then it is pretty good when I compare it to other creamy finish lipsticks. In fact the lipstick survives light snacks, tea/water break with slight transferring and fading.
Overall, I do feel that the shade is more for matured beauties but then it looks equally good on my skin without adding years on, so a thumbs up from me.
Let’s sum up pros and cons,
Pros of NARS Satin Lipstick – Banned Red:
• A vibrant copper red lipstick with a silky satin formula.
• It effortlessly slips on my mildly dry lips without tugging.
• It conceals mild-deeper pigmentation on lips.
• It gives intense color pay off in just 1-2 swipes.
• It does not provide any hydration, but then it doesn’t dry out my lips either.
• It does not settle in lip lines or dry patches.
• It does not look cakey or bleed on lips.
• It stays put for good 4-5 hours on my lips.
• It fades onto a soft, subtle stain which stays for another couple of hours with no need of touch ups.
• Quite attractive and travel friendly packing.
Cons NARS Satin Lipstick – Banned Red:
• The shade might look like one for aged ladies.
• Staying power could have been better.
• It does transfer.
• Pricey.
Would I Recommend/Repurchase NARS Satin Lipstick – Banned Red?
I think I really like it for its complete coverage, perfect light-weight creamy color pay off and pretty decent staying power as well. I would definitely recommend this shade to every beauty irrespective of the age group; even I have plans to get its backup before it goes out of stock.
