NARS Schiap Semi Matte Lipstick and NARS Kaliste Velvet Eyeliner Review

NARS Schiap Lipstick Review:

I am reviewing this all-time favourite lipstick of mine from NARS – it’s called “Schiap” and this is my second time repurchasing it, so you already know how much I love this lipstick. NARS describes it as a “vivid pink” color. It is a gorgeous fuchsia pink lipstick..almost with a hint of neon.

It’s the kind of pink that instantly brightens up your complexion even on the most dull day. It is a semi-matte lipstick. It goes on creamy and settles down to a soft, matte texture. It does not dry out the lips but it’s not most hydrating as well. The staying power is around 4 hours and it leaves a lovely pink stain behind.

A lipstick as bright as this requires a lip liner underneath, but it is so pigmented that I end up wearing it on its own on most days. It transfers a little but not much. It does not have any weird taste or smell to it.

The packaging is a small matte black case. It’s very light and can fit in all your small purses for touch-ups. 😀 Despite its cons, this is one lipstick I would be purchasing it every time it would get over.

NARS Kaliste Velvet Eyeliner Review:

I picked up a few velvet liners from NARS – one of them is Kaliste. It’s a gorgeous teal green color. I love that it is a sharpenable pencil and can be sharpened to a fine point, if required. The liner is creamy, smooth and very pigmented. One swipe of color and you have a gorgeous bold liner and the liner can be built up to a deep dark green color. The packaging is gorgeous black with a coloured bottom, so you can store all the pencils upside down and that makes it easier to locate them.

I wore this pencil for the makeup above and went out thinking it would last long. I have oily lids so I always prime my lids. This liner pretty much disappeared after almost 3 hours of wear. The primer underneath prevented it from smudging and going all over the place, but after a few hours when I checked, I had only my black gel liner that I used on the lash line with a traces of green liner here and there. The green liner had all faded randomly. It’s such a shame because the color, texture and pigmentation is so on point.

Then I tried this eyeliner as a smudgy liner, both on waterline and lower lash line. And Bingo! It worked like a charm. I wore it for good 8 hours. On my waterline, at least 50% of the liner was still there and my liner was intact on the lower lash line that I had smudged just with a pencil brush. I was so impressed with this liner. This liner worked like a kohl..you know how kohl pencils move a bit – something that you can wear with a bit of smokiness or on waterline. It’s that liner.

Now, I am in love with this liner. It may not be the great liner for upper lash line, but use it as a kohl liner or a smudgy liner and it works like a charm. 🙂
