My Experience with NARS Semi Matte Lipstick – Heat Wave:

This is my second NARS lipstick, the first one is Funny Face, which I have reviewed earlier. Heat Wave is a nice reddish orange, or orange-red colour, but not “in-your-face” shocking orange. I was slightly reminded of MAC’s lipstick Lady Danger, though Lady Danger is more bold and louder than this one. Heat Wave is in a semi-matte finish; it’s not too creamy neither too dry, it feels soft to the touch and glides smoothly onto the lips without pulling or tugging, and feels very comfortable. Having pink undertones to my skin, I was wondering whether I should stick to my comfort zone of pinks, but I got fed up of so many pinks, and wanted to try out something different.

I have tried orange lipsticks before, but I felt they dulled my complexion down a lot and made my teeth look yellow, but not Heat Wave. It brightened up my entire face and I can wear this as a statement lipstick for my makeup look, coupled with light coral blush and beige eyeshadow and black eyeliner on upper and lower lash lines, finishing off with lots of jet black mascara.  It looks gorgeous with black outfits and I wore it with a green outfit the other day, and I received loads of compliments (no kidding!).

Now, I want a bag in this colour!! NARS lipsticks come in a black, long, square, matte rubberized case with NARS inscription all round the cover, and a black outer cardboard box with white printing. They appear to be fragrance-free and didn’t make my dry lips feel stretchy.  Also, the colour lasted on me for ages, right through the evening, dinner and some soft drinks and water too, and I had to use makeup remover to remove it before bedtime. I would recommend it to all complexions to wear/try.

• I have no cons, except that NARS products are not available in India.
