IMBB Sponsored Product Review
I have never been a fan of foundations. For some reason, every time I wore a foundation, my skin felt so congested that I wanted to rip it off my skin. But that being said, for special occasions, I like to keep a bottle of MAC’s pro longwear. A few months ago, I was getting a “makeover” at a mall where I was randomly selected and the MUA had applied this on me. It was since then on my radar as I was really impressed with it’s look and staying power.
Shade : Stromboli -medium with olive undertones.
$45 + tax.
My Take on NARS Sheer Matte Foundation:
Stromboli is a small exquisite island near Sicily. That is exactly how it looks – like something in a rich woman’s vanity. The day I purchased it, I kept looking at it for some reason. No wonder, hubby thinks I’m crazy. The SA at Sephora did a skin match on me and it showed 4 brands that were a perfect match and when she applied Stromboli on me, I realized how perfect that software was programmed. It was so perfect on me, every critic in my mind shut up! Nars claims that this oil-free foundation delivers sheer, buildable coverage with shine control while also claiming to be long lasting and evening out skin tone. Check, check and check. I wore this so many times summing up to 3 different scenarios:
1) lightly just over my moisturizer while going out and about – in the sun.
2) heavily as full coverage – While visiting a formal dinner, a full day mall visit.
Let me say again – it stays and stays. It gave me more than 6 hours of wear even in 80 deg F. I just had to dab once on my nose but my nose is my oiliest zone. I roamed the entire afternoon and went directly to a late dinner and still ended up getting complimented. It honestly looked all fresh. My main happiness is that I really like the finish; it’s neither flat nor dewy. I hate matte products because they make me look all matronly. Sheer Matte also claims to have skin care benefits which deliver luminosity and smoothness to the skin. I don’t know how that works with makeup but so far, this is the best thing I have used.
Pros of NARS Sheer Matte Foundation:
- Staying power.
- Best for oily skin.
- Not cakey but buildable.
- A vast shade range.
- Blends seamlessly into the skin.
- It looks fabulous.
Cons of NARS Sheer Matte Foundation:
- The price 🙁
- Why does it not come with a pump, even Rati mentioned the same thing yesterday, it’s a pain getting it out. You either have to use a makeup spatula or those candy sticks.
- I do not want them to commercialize this – NARS, give them for free dammitttt!
If you have an oily skin and don’t want cakey and melty makeup, then definitely check this out. I have pics to prove it 😉
