NARS Translucent Crystal Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder Review

NARS Translucent Crystal Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder

Product Details:

What it is:  A weightless, translucent powder for all skin tones that creates a soft matte finish that looks luminous in any light.

What it does:  This setting powder enhances the look of foundation without a trace of colour, extending makeup wear thanks to the NARS exclusive Light Reflecting Complex™, which optimizes light-reflection on the skin. Its silky powder is infused with Photochromic Technology, which diffuses light and adjusts to new sources of light throughout the day. Soft, silky, and luxurious to the touch and undetectable on the skin, this weightless formula applies evenly and blends effortlessly. One of the best parts? Fine lines, wrinkles, and pores optically fade as skin is visibly smoothed. Additionally, revolutionary microfine mineral powders are loaded with glycerin and antioxidant vitamin E to help guard against dryness and keep skin comfortable all day. Ideal for touch-ups, it helps regulate shine throughout the day and seamlessly sets foundation. This product is paraben- and fragrance-free and non-comedogenic.  It is formulated without parabens.

My Experience with NARS Translucent Crystal Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder:

There’s nothing quite like a weightless, light-reflecting translucent powder. I spent a long time searching for the ideal one and after having debated between the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder and the Nars Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder, I settled for the latter. I have been using this product over the last couple of months and I am quite happy with my purchase.

I read Rati’s review of the pressed powder version of this product, but because I had never tried a loose powder before (and Rati had mentioned that the pressed version was a little difficult to pick up on a brush), I decided to go for this version. Like all loose powders, this one is a little messy to use and isn’t travel-friendly in the least. You have to shake the product out through the pores, swirl the brush into the jar and tap off the excess product before application. Basically, you have to be very careful if you don’t want to waste a whole lot of product. If you’re looking for something that’s travel-friendly, go for the pressed powder version. I would also like to point out at that the pressed powder version contains 7 grams of product and the loose powder version contains 10 grams, but both of them are priced at 35 USD.

This product totally lives up to its claims. First of all, it is translucent and does not have any colour payoff. This means that it is suitable for all skin tones (except for very deep ones, I would think). Secondly, it provides a soft, luminous, semi-matte finish that looks refreshing and radiant. It magically blurs out imperfections, fine lines and pores. I would recommend using this with a big fluffy powder brush.

NARS Translucent Crystal Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder

It diffuses light while being completely invisible on the skin. It is unlike any other powder I have used. You may see some micro-shimmer in the product, but it does not show up on the skin at all. It also works well for flash photography. It never feels drying or heavy on the skin, but it still has all the benefits of a setting powder. It keeps shine at bay (at least for my combination skin type), lasts a long time and keeps makeup in place. It is very comfortable to wear for long hours.

It is formulated without parabens, which is always a plus for me. Overall, I love this product!
