I shall be reviewing a lip balm today. I have always been loyal to the Maybelline Baby Lip Balms; but as my current stock was running out, I thought of trying something else. Hence, I got this Natio lip balm. Read on further to know if I have shifted loyalties or would I go back to my all time favorite.
Offering the ultimate in pocket-sized convenience, the nourishing balm is infused with plant extracts and natural waxes to hydrate and soothe. The low sheen, fragrance-free formula ensures nutrient charged ‘lip calm’ whether you are inside or out.

My take on Natio Shea Butter Lip Balm:
I will start with the packaging first. It comes in a transparent plastic cylindrical tube with a twist up mechanism. It has a small cap attached to it which keeps the balm safe. Since it is transparent, you can locate it easily in the stash. There is a sticker around the tube mentioning the name and the ingredients. A travel-friendly functional packaging-nothing to rant or rave here. Moving on to the texture, it has a smooth butter like texture and glides easily on the lips. Unlike many lip balms, it wont feel waxy or sticky. However, a word of caution here is that you need not apply extra pressure while application as it may start to crumble . It keeps my lips hydrated and moisturized for a good 4 hours. It doesn’t leave any whitish layer on the lips and fades on its own over a period of time leaving soft moisturized lips. I tried it at night as well and I woke up with nice soft lips. It feels true to its claims of containing shea butter. It doesn’t add any hint of color to the lips, it is just a very natural-looking sheen which it imparts. Again pigmented lips may not like a clear lip balm and may want a tinted version. A point worth mentioning here is that it contains no fragrance or taste.( not that I eat my cosmetics 😛 but accidentally might lick the lips) That’s how I like my lip balms or for that matter all makeup to be, fragrance-free!
So far so good – but when I read the complete list of ingredients, I found it contains mineral oil which is quite a harmful ingredient I hear . In fact EU has restricted its use in the cosmetics altogether.
Let us summarise the pros and cons,
Pros of Natio Shea Butter Lip Balm:
- Travel-friendly packaging.
- Keeps lips soft, moisturized and hydrated for a good 4 hours.
- Doesn’t feel waxy. On the contrary has a buttery texture.
- Can be used under a lipstick.
- Has no fragrance.
- Contains some good ingredients like Shea Butter, Vitamin E and Aloe Vera which do show results.
Cons of Natio Shea Butter Lip Balm:
One and only one, it contains Mineral Oil!
Will I repurchase/ Do I recommend Natio Shea Butter Lip Balm?
No, I will not repurchase as I am trying to use less chemically-loaded stuff. As far as recommendation goes, please be your own judge!
IMBB Rating :
3.5 out of 5 ( though it gives wonderful results, but I cannot ignore the presence of mineral oil)

these clear lip balms with “shea butter” tags are almost always tempting for me! 😛
