Skin Tone: Medium fair, warm undertones
I have been eyeing this range from Neutrogena for quite a long time now and was so keen to try this light mask. Now, let’s find out whether this product lived upto my expectations or not.
4200 PHP or 6000 INR approximately for one mask and 30 days activator refill.
My Experience with Neutrogena Fine Fairness Light Mask:
Packaging: Beginning with the packaging of the product. The mask comes in a normal cardboard box, which bears some product related information. Inside this box, there’s a light mask with a cord attached to it, an activator, and user manual. The packaging does not feel strong enough and the box must be stored securely to avoid product damage. Also, the packaging is huge and occupies too much space while carrying during travelling. Overall, the packaging is not travel friendly.
Light Mask: The mask is white in color and made up of normal plastic. The quality of the mask is good and firm. The mask has a small bulb attached within, which emits bright light. There are 12 tiny bulbs that emit red light and 6 infrared bulbs which emit infra red light. There is a thin cord attached to this mask, which is connected to the activator to make the mask function. The mask can be worn like normal reading glasses. I like the fact that it has a black-colored, rubberized cover for covering the eyes, which protects my eyes from bright light. The light in the mask is so strong that it would have definitely irritated the eyes, but I have some issues with these eyelets as they are a bit loose and a little light goes inside from the bottom, which annoys me even when the eyes are closed. My eyes have now become used to this light, so it does not bother me anymore.
Activator: There comes an activator with this mask, which is battery operated. It looks like a small remote. It requires four good quality AA batteries to function. The activator has a small screen on top that displays the current session number and once the session is finished, it shows the number of sessions left. This screen displays the number only when the mask cord is attached with it. There is a big power button on the top of this activator, which can be used for turning on/off the mask after it is connected to the mask. There is a small hole at the bottom, which is the power outlet and here the cord of the mask has to be connected.
How To Use:
To use the mask, simply wash your skin well and pat dry. Now, attach the cord of the mask to the small power outlet to the activator. Then, press the power button for around 4-5 seconds and the mask will turn on. Make sure you are ready for the session, only then switch it on because if you randomly switch on/off just for testing the device, you will lose and waste your sessions. When you install the device for the first time and connect it to the activator, your activator screen will display 30 sessions. And then, if you just turn it on for a while and then turn it off, even within seconds, your one session will be lost and the screen will display only 29 sessions. This way, you will lose one treatment. So, stay conscious and read the manual carefully before using the device for the first time to avoid losing sessions. Switch it on only when you are fully prepared for the treatment. After applying the mask, sit back and relax. Listen to some music and leave this mask without bothering about switching it off or counting the number of minutes left as the activator has an auto-cut feature, which turns it off automatically after 10 minutes. Remember to use the mask only once a day.
Once all 30 sessions are consumed, you have to buy a new activator, which is sold separately for 1800 PHP (2500 INR approximately). You don’t need to buy a separate mask for that. I don’t appreciate only 30 sessions with this mask. This activator just provides electrical energy to operate the device and it would have been apt to replace just batteries, but the brand has programmed the device in such a way that it does not work after 30 sessions. It seems like a marketing policy of the brand which compels the consumer to buy more activator refills if one wants to use the mask further, but still, it is much cheaper than salon treatments.
How It Works: This mask works on the technology of light energy, which is used by some salons as well. This light penetrates the skin and rejuvenates it from inside, giving a brighter and radiant-looking skin. It uses red light and infrared light, which helps to provide radiance to the skin, refine uneven skin tone, and also refine skin texture. Red light claims to brighten up skin and infra red light claims to provide firmer and radiant skin. It does not irritate my skin at all, but you may feel a slight warmth if your skin is too sensitive. I have sensitive skin and my skin did not face any allergic reactions with this mask in the duration of 30 days. There is no burning, redness or any kind of tingling sensation on the skin.
This mask does not give instant results with the very first use, so you need to be patient to get desired results. I started noticing difference in my skin after the third use. My skin looked a little brighter. I have been using skin care products from the same range along with this treatment. Also, one precaution that I followed while using this treatment is that I totally avoid going out in the sun and if it is really very important to go out, then I always use a good sunscreen and also avoid direct sunlight. Though, there is no such instruction given in the user manual, but I still follow it as it is a basic precaution when undergoing such treatments.
Red light in this mask helps to fade dark spots, pimple marks, blemishes, etc. and provide bright glow to the skin. On the other hand, the infrared light refines the texture of skin by boosting collagen and elastin production and helps in plumping up the skin. Significant changes were visible on my skin after around 10 days of use. My skin started to even out and my complexion started looking better. I have some acne scars, which were not fading since ages. This mask targeted those stubborn scars and started lightening them. Though the old scars are not yet fully gone, but they have definitely faded to a great extent and this is why I would love to opt for a few more sessions. This light mask has improved the texture of my skin. It has reduced bumps and helped to refine skin pores as well. It has also reduced redness of my skin. I am not exaggerating, but this mask has been a total game-changer for my skin. My skin looked radiant but I didn’t find any significant skin lightening. So, if you think it would lighten up skin tone, then it would certainly disappoint you. It is only to even-out skin tone and texture.
Overall Verdict: I have used this light mask for 30 days completely and it really worked for me. I have been using it with Neutrogena Fine Fairness Brightening Serum and Neutrogena Fine Fairness Gel Cream throughout. Overall, this product is totally worth every penny. It gives excellent results without having to drain out at a beauty center. This has been such a long post, as I wanted to cover every aspect and answer the queries you may have. Hope this helps! From my side, it’s a yay for this amazing innovative product.
