Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner Review

Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner Review

Hi IMBBians!

Hope everyone is doing well.  I have always been strict with my skin care regime, cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing, and face mask – the list goes on. One skin care item I never really gave much importance to was a facial toner. I decided a few months ago to try a toner and see if it was really a necessary step to my skin care. I decided to try out the Neutrogena Pore Refining toner. I have clear skin, but my pores are quite visible and always an issue for me.  Another major reason I chose this toner to try out first was because of the ingredients. It contains glycolic acid. Glycolic acid is by far my favorite skin care ingredient and it works amazingly well with my skin.

My Experience with Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner:

To start off, the packing is very simple and adequate. The product comes out of a nozzle and is very convenient. The toner itself is clear and has the same consistency as water. I put it on a cotton ball and apply it to my face in an upward motion. I have been using this twice a day after cleansing my face. The first 2-3 times I used this, I did feel a slight burning sensation, but nothing unbearable. I felt like I was putting lemon juice on my face. After the third day, I did not feel the tingling sensation at all.

The smell in my opinion is GREAT! It has a spa/ocean scent. There is a large amount of alcohol in this product so I was able to smell, but personally, I don’t mind it at all. Since there is a large amount of alcohol, I assumed this product will be very drying, surprisingly it was not. I already have normal/dry skin and this did not dry my skin further.  I also do think it is because I use a good moisturizer afterwards. My skin always feels squeaky clean after using this toner. I also noticed that my skin texture looks better and not so dull. I have been using this product for the past year, and I LOVE it. It does say it is a “pore refining toner….visibly reduces pores,” but to be honest, I still see my pores.  I love that my skin feels softer, and the texture looks better. The price of this product is quite astounding. Usually, skin care products containing glycolic acid cost an arm and a leg. UGH! But this is relatively cheap for the amount of product you get.

I already have repurchased this product, since I love it so much. I would recommend this to anyone who has normal to oily skin. This product would work really well for people with oily and acne-prone skin. If you have dry skin, you can still use this product; I would suggest using a mild cleanser before applying a toner and then after the toner, use a nice moisturizer. The main claim this product makes is incorrect, it doesn’t reduce the appearance of pores at all, but it does keep them clean. The price is also very reasonable and contains AHAs and BHA’s which work wonders on the skin.

Pros of Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner:

  • Improves skin texture by making it smoother and softer.
  • Very affordable and you get a lot of product.
  • Contains glycolic acid, which helps the skin look brighter and smoother.
  • Smells like a spa day.
  • Easy to apply on the face without creating a mess.
  • Doesn’t dry out the skin.
  • After applying the product, pores and face feel extra clean.
  • Removes any leftover makeup and dirt that you may have missed after cleansing your face.

Cons of Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner:

  • Doesn’t visibly reduce the appearance of pores.
  • Contains a lot of alcohol which may be irritating to those with VERY sensitive skin.
  • The packaging isn’t very travel friendly.
  • Does sting your face when you first use it (lasts only 30 seconds and for the first 2-3 first uses).
