Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Eye Cream Review

Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Eye Cream

neutrogena rapid wrinkle repair eye cream
Hi ladies!
Today I share with you all some noteworthy information! This Neutrogena product helped me learn a very important lesson learnt – Accelerated Retinol does not work on me! Unfortunately 😥 I have very dark circles & wanted to try an eye cream that would help reduce the darkness & also reduce the fine lines around my eyes. I’ve heard all experts recommend using an eye cream with Retinol in it. More on this vitamin can be read in this IMBB article. ( https://makeupandbeauty.com/retinol-cream/ ) But the experts always warn that Retinol is a gamble product, either it works for you or it doesn’t. I learnt the hard way that it doesn’t. Maybe it may work in the pure form for me; without the combination of below mentioned active ingredients. This particular product was a disaster for me! But since this product may work for others I thought of reviewing it anyways.I

Packaging/Look/Texture/Application/Use:
product

It comes in a typical “fancy eye cream” plastic tube with a plastic cap. It seems to be made of high quality material as one would expect from Neutrogena. It has a tiny nozzle that dispenses comfortably only the amount you would need. The cream is white & disappears fairly quickly, just after a few seconds, of patting it into the skin. I have used this at night & also under my makeup in the daytime & it didn’t affect my makeup at all. It was not at all as greasy as I was expecting.

My Experience with Neutrogena® Rapid Wrinkle Repair Eye Cream

The only claim that I found true was that it does work well under makeup. None of the other claims worked for me though. Again I stress that this may work for others. I just wish that the warning on the packaging was more honest, they should have suggested discontinuing use or consulting a doctor if there is a severe reaction. For such a strong ingredient, they should even have a disclaimer regarding the side effects & the fact that it may not work AT ALL for some people. All they mention is that even if symptoms persist or cause discomfort, use it lesser! How is that going to help someone Retinol doesn’t work for?! I know they want to sell the product but honest disclaimers should be mandatory for such active ingredients. Not all users will be net savvy; I at least was aware of these effects & decided to take the chance & stopped when I saw the adverse side effects. Others who never searched about it online will keep using it thinking they are just experiencing “temporary indications that the formula is working.” Very misleading!

I found this information on Wikipedia:
“When used, dryness or increased sensitivity to sunlight of the affected skin may occur. More sensitive patients may also experience redness, scaling, itching, and burning. A gradual increase in the frequency and amount of tretinoin application is best, as this allows one’s skin to adequately adjust to the drug. Patients should be careful to follow their physician’s recommendations when beginning a round of treatment. This product increases the risk of sunburn; care should be taken (shade, sunscreen, etc.) to protect treated skin from overexposure to ultraviolet light.”
I wish the product had this in their disclaimer! I will never again use such products without consulting a physician first.
This is the before-after of my eyes; there is a gap of 10 days in between, wherein I used the cream everyday once on my eyes:
eye cream

:yikes: No I did not mix up the order, my eyes were indeed much better “Before”. They became darker, my skin became looser, the lines appeared deeper, skin flaked, and redness would not decrease! In their warning they only mention “mild”, nothing was mild about it. So I did not want to risk using it further by limiting the use to “every other day until the skin adjusts”.
Since I have discontinued its use, my eyes look and feel much better! I started placing cotton pads dipped in rose water on my eyes for 15-20 minutes every day since I stopped using this cream. So thank God the negative effects of the eye cream could be remedied easily. In the following image:
• “Before” indicates before I started using the eye cream
• “After” indicates after 10 days of use of the eye cream; daily once
•“Now” indicates 10 days after discontinuing use & applying rose water on it every day one.

As you can see, the “Before” & “Now” seem pretty similar, but the “After” is a true disaster!!! I will continue using the Rose water or other natural remedies & will change my sleeping pattern to decrease the dark circles further. And next time consult a dermatologist before using any such product! This product has Accelerated Retinol (Retinol SA + Glucose Complex + Hyaluronic Acid) but many physicians prescribe pure Retinol creams for sever eye-area issue. So worse come to worst, I may recommend a professional before looking into this again.

Pros of Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Eye Cream

• Can be used under makeup
• The tube is very easy to use.
• Product seeps into skin with very little effort.
•It may work for some people.

Cons of Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Eye Cream

• Everything & anything other the pros listed! Especially:
o They should really have a clearer disclaimer.
o Did not work for me at all. Made my dark circles darker, my skin saggy & deepened the lines around my eyes.
oThe only way to find out if this works for you is by risking using it.

Will I recommend Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Eye Cream?
I will only recommend to consult a physician before using any product on the sensitive eye are & never believe a product’s claims just because it’s from a reputable company. Using natural/home remedies & improving our lifestyle should be tried first.

Rating:
Can I give it a negative rating? They should really have included a proper warning! The fact that this product may suit some people & even cure their dark circles is still no excuse to omit an honest disclaimer!

I sincerely hope this helps any of you who are having issues pertaining to those essayed in this article. :haanji:

  1. Oh my that’s just sad nafisa. I has a similar experience with neutrogena. its moisturizer broke me out! its sunblock broke me out! Even i started getting neutrogena nightmares 😥 From then, i never even try their products retinol or no-retinol..

  2. I have the same sad story to say about Sheer block sunscreen, it does not protect from sun, it causes sunburns. I had worn it one time and there was a certain patch on my face. My friend also developed a similar kind of patch with the same sunscreen……..so I am a little wary now to use the moisturizer after reading all this 😐

    1. a sunscreen that causes sunburns?!? OMG :yikes: i tried their face wash one, horrible it was! the deep cleaning one… :yuck: so i’d say stay clear of their moisturizer too!

  3. Sad that this didnt work for you.. :yuck: You can go for Himalaya Under Eye cream.. It worked good for me; It reduced my dark circles ..

  4. Very informative article Nafisa. I had a similar reaction from RoC retinol serum. Try using castor oil or almond oil for your under eye… It will really help curb the damage :preen:

  5. Nafisa….. i cant thanku enuf for this review…the other day i was checking this online n thot i shud try 😐 😐 i wont now :((

  7. woahh thats weird! i have never seen anything like this before. thats why i dont use any eyewrinkle creams. i heard that if your young and use it it will not let your skin develop on its own and therefor your making your skin addict to it as to if u dnt use it anymore u get massiv wirnkles

  8. thanks for this review, i really was going to get this for myself when done with my under eye cream. sure serves as a good warning for us all. i hope you are feeling better.

  9. OMG, I have the night cream of this and now I’m so scared to use it. I was going to start from 1st March. :tremble: :tremble: :chewnails: :chewnails:

  10. Had similar problem with their advance wrinkle repair moisturizer “Night”. I have olive, very tough-meaning “non sensitive skin” with the exceptional clogging pores of some products with extremely faint wrinkles. Used this for three nights and not only totally dried skin out, but gave me “deep, welted, almost blistered wrinkle where there were absolutely non on my cheek bones. By the 3rd day I looked like a football player that had black eyes. I understand certain products, as they should exfoliate because they contain syliac acids, but this did not. I’m on my way to dermatologist now to see if they can help. It removed all, I mean “all” elasticity in my skin. I’ve never sunburned before but have seen others and its about the only way to describe. And, yes every morning I put 70spf on so no I didn’t burn. Thank god I did not put closer to my eyes like the gal above. It truly looks like I might need a skin graph. Its the oddest thing I’ve ever seen. I did contact Neutragena’s Corporate Office and told them what happened and they said not to put near eyes, but “Nowhere” on their packaging does it say do not put anywhere near eyes, neither on the bottle or exterior packaging. This is what I have a problem with. This needs to be disclosed if this is the case with this product or could possibly effect others. Customer service said this was I was their first complaint about product. I can’t possibly imagine. I discontinued use for obvious and also inquired about this when I called Customer Service. I also inquired if this temporary and with continued use would it go away or do I need to follow up with an additional moisturizer. Customer service, a young man, had no clue, I asked to speak with an actual tech/nurse of some sort but they did not have any type of department set up. It was like talking to my 18 year old son. So although this line might work for some, I’m still finding that hard to believe because again, I do not have sensitive skin or allergic reactions to anything. Customer service was very polite and sending me a refund, however I am pursuing with corporate to provide “full disclosure about this product, if not on the actual label at least on their website. I’ll try the rose water. Right now using pure Aloe Vera from garden and olive oil. Curious to see what dermatologist says if it will eventually go away, would hate to have permanent scarring.

    1. o my!! That sounds so horrible Adrienne! it is a shame that these companies think they can dupe us in any way at all. That is exactly what irks me the most, that they do not include any sort of honest disclaimers! Kudos to you for sticking it to them through Customer Care. They need to hear these! I hope you are better now & get perfectly fine with time. Keep us posted

  11. this is just shocking..!!! omg..!! i have their moisturizer and used their sunscreen ultra touch one.. didnt have any side effects “yet” …. but now i am scared to ever wait for that “yet” to happen… *cant watch*

  12. This range works magic for me.. Retinol is the only product which has been scientifically proved to reduce wrinkles. I repeat “only product which has been scientifically proved to reduce wrinkles”.. but practically many people have reported that retinol doesn’t work for them. So it seems certain skin types do not go well with retinol. For me it works wonders. I use all the three products of this range, Day moisturizer, Night moisturizer and the eye cream and they work.. 🙂

  13. and am 34 with an extremely(all caps, bold, red font) sensitive, oily to combination skin.. had been using the uber-expensive products like La Prairie before this.. the only reason i wanted to try this was the word “retinol”.. and thankfully it worked..

  14. Thanks for sharing!!
i hate the Netrogena face wash. My face broke out after using it. And my face never has break outs. So am staying away from this brand.
