Hi Pretty IMBBians,
Happy New Year. Hope you had a wonderful day!! Ours was also great, enjoyed New Year’s fireworks at SFO Piers. Its great to know that US government organizes mesmerizing fireworks especially on 4th of July (Independence Day of United States) and 31st December (New Year) every year at various places all over US. However, it was a real mess to walk miles and miles for bart train after the show with a baby who refuses to sit back on the stroller 😛 but the show was worth watching. Anyway, today, I will talk about Neutrogena’s new series of liquid foundations: Neutrogena Skin Clearing Oil Free Makeup. It’s great for acne prone and oily skin beauties as per its claim. Let’s read on further to know if it lived up to its claim!!

Don’t just cover up, clear up! Neutrogena SkinClearing oil-free makeup is the first and only liquid foundation formulated with MicroClear technology to not only treat blemishes, but to also help prevent emerging breakouts. MicroClear technology boosts the power of salicylic acid by breaking through oil and unclogging pores for fast acne relief. Its shine-free, natural coverage lets skin breathe and won’t clog pores.
Nothing fancy about packaging. Its an ordinary glass bottle with no seal on top of the bottle. The liquid foundation is very thick in texture and almost odourless.
My Experience with Neutrogena Skin Clearing Oil Free Make Up Blemish Treatment:
I was looking for a decent foundation when I came across Neutrogena section! I just asked the store manager to suggest me an anti-acne, oil-free foundation and she diverted me towards Neutrogena Skin Clearing section. At first sight, I was not much impressed by its packaging as it had no seal at all and it felt unhygienic to use it. I told the manager about the unsealed package and she told me its not contaminated in any sense and I should feel free to give it a try! Assured by her words, I thought of trying 3 shades closer to my skin tone namely: Fresh Beige, Natural Ivory, and Nude out of which Nude 40 was my best match.
There are a total of 12 shades matching almost every skin tone! Moreover, it does have acne-clearing properties, so it was a must try product for me. I used it the next day on my face and was a little disappointed as it settled inside my pores. It was a real mess to rub it off from pores as it takes time to blend and accumulates on the skin. However, it is soft and light on the skin and hardly creates any magic on face other than luminosity and sheer coverage! Yes, it does not give even medium coverage. Thankfully, it does not irritate or cause break outs. I felt my skin to be soft and smooth.
It does not stay for more than 6 hours on the face and I feel my T zone oily after 4-5 hours. It does not contain sunscreen, so its only applicable till winters, not good for summers I feel. For me, it’s a dicey product. I am using it on a daily basis now to finish it off quickly and check if it does clear skin! I do see clear skin but that’s maybe because I use Neutrogena Naturals skin care products.
It is not a wonderful product, just okay for me, a bit overpriced with only sheer coverage and less staying power.
Let’s sum up the pros and cons:
Pros of Neutrogena Skin Clearing Oil Free Make Up Blemish Treatment:
- Liquid, oil-free foundation.
- Helps prevent emerging break outs.
- Gives a natural look.
- Shine free.
- Available in 12 shades, almost matching all skin tones.
- Sheer coverage.
- Soft and smooth on skin, making it evenly toned
Cons of Neutrogena Skin Clearing Oil Free Make Up Blemish Treatment:
- It does settles in pores.
- It has an average staying power of less than 6 hours.
- Devoid of sunscreen, hence not suitable for daylight.
- A bit overpriced for its ordinary unsealed packaging, sheer coverage and average staying power.
- May not be available in India.
Well I like it on my face only because of its natural, even-toned effect, and anti-acne properties. However, I feel it’s really overpriced for what it does! May be its good for those with combination skin as oily skin beauties may have problem blending it over large pores!!
