How to Make a Newspaper Basket to Store Cosmetics

How to Make a Newspaper Basket to Store Cosmetics

Hey all,
It indeed feels very nice when I am writing for IMBB after a gap. I have been crazily busy with many things – my IGNOU assignments (I am studying MA in psychology so any psychologists here.. please let me know), my PhD proposal (I got a research assignment in NL but couldn’t take it so now preparing for Indian B-schools and thus anyone doing PhD in business administration, please write in comments, I need your help) and some other small assignments.

Now, I am kind of done with few of them and can actually breathe.

Today I am going to tell you how you can make a sturdy newspaper basket from old, used newspapers. The basket looks gorgeous (atleast to me.. 😉 ) and it is quite strong. You can add your own variations to it in terms of size, weight, color and paper material.

I hope you enjoy it. I would love to hear from you in comments section.
What you need:
Newspapers, glue, colored papers, stapler
How to make the basket:
1. Take newspaper sheet and fold it into a stripe. You can adjust the length and width here. I kept the width close to an inch and I took the normal newspaper full sheet. The number of stripes is dependent upon the size you wish to make. For this size around 12 stripes are more than enough.

2. Cover it with a colored paper – fold it again into a colored sheet so as to get nice color in the end.

3. By placing the sheets vertically and horizontally, try to make a mat of the sheets as shown in the picture.

4. Decide on the base size. Once you are done with the base, take the sheets and fold them vertically.

5. Now start inserting the rest of the sheets horizontally in a cross section format.
5
6. Glue the horizontal stripes together at the end.

7. You can cut off the excess vertical sheets or fold them to give round edge to the basket and to make it sturdier.

NOTE:
I would suggest you make around 8-10 stripes first and start working on it. If needed, you can anytime make and add new stripes to it. If you want to be strong, its better to fold an entire newspaper sheet into one stripe. Use Feviquick as it holds the stripes better than a fevicol. If you feel the stripes keep getting ripped off of each other, staple them.
