My Experience with Nicole by OPI Nail Lacquer Positive Energy, In Sync with Pink, Oh That’s Just Grape!:

Well these colourful nail lacquers come in really attractive curvy bottles with broad yet long brush applicator attached to the tight fitted cap. Over all, I find them quite user friendly & travel friendly products.

First of all I really like their broad yet sleek brush which effortlessly coats every nook & corner of my nails without any streaky finish or feathering around. I feel if the applicator is apt, our job is half done, and in this case the brush applicator is definitely apt. It makes our job done with ease as well as neat finish. However the texture & consistency also affects the finish, and surprisingly I found that all 3 variants, despite being from the same brand, differ a lot in finish as well as consistency. Let me talk about these shades in detail one by one!

1. Positive Energy

Described as “A silver chrome that’s fully charged”, it is a shimmery silver nail lacquer which is apt for the upcoming festive season. It complements my skin tone really well without making it darker than usual. In fact I feel it amplifies my skin tone. I also find it perfect in consistency – neither too runny nor thick, just perfect to apply evenly on my nails. Even it dries pretty fast which is much needed for messy mums like me. I am also impressed to see that it gives almost 80% color payoff in just one swipe while I need a second swipe to add a finishing touch.

It also stays slightly longer than other shades. I mean it manages to stay intact even with all the household chores for a week; it may last as long as 2 weeks with no chipping, depending up on the degree of household work. Even the glossy shine stays put for good 5-6 days. I don’t think I have any major issues with this shade, and I would like to get it again. Over all, I will rate it 4.8/5!

2. In Sync with Pink

This shade belongs to the Spring collection 2015 from Nicole by OPI, hence I was really tempted to try it. It is a bubble gum pink with no shimmers, which may tend to make our skin tone a tad bit darker than usual. Even I see that it often makes my tanned skin bit darker, though it makes a great choice for fair skin tones. It has slightly watery consistency which is not too impressive. I mean it comes up slightly streaky and translucent in first stroke while I need two or more swipes for an even, glossy finish.

However it does not look cakey even after several swipes, but it won’t provide 100% color payoff anyway. The nail paint manages to stay intact with glossy shine for decent 5 – 6 days, there by fading or chipping from the edges. Probably multiple swipes tend to chip earlier, as per my observation. I don’t think I would get it again because of its semi-opaque finish and watery consistency as these factors make it tricky for me. I will rate it 3.5/5!

3. Oh That’s Just Grape!

It is a milky lavender shade with no shimmers. I have always observed that lavender shades tend to make us look tad darker, and this shade is no exception. It tends to make my hands look bit darker but still I like it for its finish and color. It has slightly watery consistency like my previous pink shade and it also tends to give semi-sheer finish in one stroke; it is manageable though. I never use more than two swipes with this shade as it gives me perfect, opaque pigmentation with a glossy sheen on nails.

It stays put for good 6+ days depending upon the degree of household work, while it may start to chip after a week. However I have better lavender choices in my stash, hence it might be a skip for me as I am determined to try another lavender shade from this brand. But it is definitely a must-try shade for its staying power, even finish and broad brush applicator which makes the application bit easier. I will rate it 4.5/5!

Overall:
I am satisfied with my purchase despite the fact that I have minor issues with its bottle packaging as the brush applicator does not reach the bottom of the packaging. Hence it might be tricky to reach for nail lacquer once it reaches the bottom line. However I don’t think we ever get a chance to finish off any bottle. Do we? 😀

Let’s sum up pros and cons:

Pros of Nicole by OPI Nail Lacquer Positive Energy, In Sync with Pink, Oh That’s Just Grape!:

• Such a lightweight, toluene-formaldehyde & DBP free nail lacquer available in wide variety of metallic, shimmery, non-glittery and milky shades
• All the shades give non streaky, even finish with glossy sheen
• None of the shades are gooey
• The broad yet sleek brush applicator ensures even finish
• They dry up pretty fast which helps with applying multiple coats
• Shades (like the pink shade here) do not look cakey even with multiple swipes
• Give perfect, even, glossy finish with just 1-2 swipes
• Quite user friendly & travel friendly packaging

Cons of Nicole by OPI Nail Lacquer Positive Energy, In Sync with Pink, Oh That’s Just Grape!:

• The bottle packaging is slightly tricky as the brush applicator does not reach the bottom
• The pink nail lacquer gives semi-sheer finish even after several swipes
• The watery consistency of both In Sync with Pink and Oh That’s Just Grape! make them tricky
• Staying power could have been better

I usually like OPI collection for their perfect consistency and staying power, but I am not much convinced by this Nicole by OPI range. Moreover, I am always inclined towards different brands, hence I might try another brand next time. If you are fine with multiple swipes and semi-translucent finish, then you should definitely check these shades as they really look gorgeous.
