Today’s review is about Nivea 3-in-1 Caring Micellar Water. This happens to be my first micellar water and here is the review of it. I had read quite a few reviews about micellar water but could not really understand how it worked. So, to begin with, micellar water is supposed to be made up of micelles suspended in soft water. Micelles are the tiny balls of cleansing oil molecules. The oil molecules attract the dirt or the makeup on the face, thereby removing makeup. These are not intended to dry out the skin. The look and feel both are just like that of water. The texture varies slightly from the water. Micellar water was invented as people in France had a scarcity of water, but now everyone uses it.

My Experience with Nivea 3-in-1 Caring Micellar Water:
Ok to start the review, the packaging is a plastic bottle with a flap lid. The packaging is made of plastic and is transparent. It’s easy to see the amount of the product still available for use. The flap lid is easy to open and close and it’s sturdy too. It does not leak and is safe to travel with. But the bottle comes in a 400 ml size and hence is quite bulky to carry. I would have preferred a smaller bottle for travel purposes.

The consistency is just like that of water. As mentioned, when you feel the texture, it feels a little different. It smells slightly of antibacterial hand sprays available in the hospitals. Yes, that is one thing I didn’t like. But I can live with that. The fragrance is noticeable only when you consciously smell the product. If not, it’s hardly noticeable.

I use a cotton pad and squeeze the product till the pad is wet and then apply it all over my face and then wipe my face with the same cotton pad. I have tried to remove my whole face makeup using it and I would say it removes most of the makeup but not 100%. Especially the heavy foundations and waterproof mascaras are difficult to get rid of. I normally use a makeup wipe after using this product and see that the makeup wipe is still able to remove remaining makeup.

This clearly shows that micellar water does not completely remove heavy makeup. For everyday makeup, it’s sufficient, but still, I like the feel when I use micellar water to remove makeup. I have sensitive skin and my skin does not dry out or get irritated with micellar water. One more thing to note is that micellar water contains no alcohol and hence it never stings. Overall, I like using it for everyday makeup removal as it’s so gentle on the skin.
