However stubborn a makeup product may be, I know I can always trust the Bioderma Sensibio to take care of it, gently. A couple of cleansing waters have cropped up ever since, and Nivea is one of them. I wouldn’t have picked it up, but this was my mom’s find. Let’s see if it works as well as the Bioderma one!

Claims :

NIVEA Sensitive 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing Water cleanses, removes make-up from face and even eyes and moisturizes in one step. It helps to reduce the 3 main signs of sensitive skin when used together with a NIVEA Sensitive care product:

1.redness 2. tightness 3. dryness
The caring formula with Dexpanthenol& Grape Seed Oil:
• cleanses deeply thanks to its extra effective yet mild cleansing complex.
• moisturizes and refreshes the skin.
• is free of parabens, colorants, perfume and alcohol.

How it works:

It cleanses particular mildly yet is highly effective. Thanks to its micelle technology, it requires no rinsing and does not break the skin’s natural barrier. The micelles work like a magnet: when applied with a cotton pad they enclose oil and make-up within their center, but keep water outside. The refreshing fluid has no dehydrating effects on the skin and there’s no need for a toner after use

My Experience with Nivea Sensitive 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing Water:

On first observation, this is exactly like water. Clear, thin consistency and no sticky feeling at all. However, what differentiates it, is the smell. It isn’t pleasant, but it isn’t too strong to make you dislike it. Personally, it is bothering for me, but my mom doesn’t mind it at all. So that’s a point down in comparison to the Sensibio. In order to test its functionality, I let the following products rest on my arm for about 45 minutes, before taking it off:

Some of these generally come off effortlessly, but the most stubborn ones are the mascara and the NYX lip cream. To take all the products off, I saturated a cotton pad with the cleansing water, and then let the pad rest for a couple of seconds on my arm. Upon couple of wipes, it took off all the makeup products effortlessly, except for the mascara, lip cream and some foundation. I saturated another cotton pad, which didn’t quite remove the products off effectively. Finally, I had to use the SensibioH2O to remove the remnants completely. The effort I put in trying to wipe off the mascara from my hand would be deemed too harsh had I used the same force on my eyes.

As another option, I first took some amount in my hand and massaged it directly onto my face, and then took it off with a slightly saturated cotton pad. This didn’t quite make a difference either on the waterproof makeup.

I like using it as a simple cleanser, for times when I have no makeup on, since it is quite moisturizing as well. The product itself is quite gentle, but the process of removing stuff from the face can get a little harsh. It contains no parabens or alcohol, making it suitable for sensitive skin beauties. All in all, a basic cleanser that is, however, ineffective on stubborn makeup. If you are looking for something that is a gentle cleanser, but not a makeup remover, this is worth a try. Also, this is much cheaper than the Bioderma one, which retails for approximately Rs 568 for 100 ml. So if you are looking for a cheaper alternative, you can try this out. However, if the best micellar cleanser exists, then why bother about this? I’d suggest the Bioderma one any day.

 Moisturizing, non drying.
 Effective as a basic cleanser.
 Contains no parabens, alcohol, perfume.
 Inexpensive.

Cons of Nivea Sensitive 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing Water:

 The smell is bothering.
 Doesn’t remove stubborn makeup effectively.
 Some force is required to clean the face. The process can get a little too harsh.

Would I Buy or Recommend Nivea Sensitive 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing Water?

Its not bad, but I like the Bioderma one more. Maybe if this came before Sensibio came into my life, I wouldn’t have minded recommending it as a basic cleanser. It is that kaamchalao kind of product in the pitaara. I’m already smitten by Bioderma, so much that I don’t quite glance towards this product.
