Nivea Daily Essentials Hydration Primer Review

I am back with another skin care product review. Compared to hair and bath care, I really enjoy writing reviews on skin and make up range; there are so many varieties, layers and shades available. These days, I am on an active experimenting spree; from contouring kit, firming lotions to gel nail paints and CC creams, I am trying various different products from different brands and am totally enjoying it. To add one more new product to my makeup routine, I was hunting for a good primer which suits my oily skin and here it is…

As I am not at all a fan of foundations, I have recently started using tinted moisturizing creams and BB creams from Nivea. Honestly, I purchased this product totally out of curiosity as I wanted to know what a primer really does! In simple terms, initially, I was a little apprehensive to buy a primer as I haven’t tried it before, so I thought to buy a mid-range product for a trail run first. I found this product after browsing a few beauty stores. And thank goodness, I was not at all disappointed.

Usually, a primer comes in cream, gel or powder cream. Nivea daily essentials primer comes in the form of a light cream and is available for two skin types – Dry and Normal / Combination skin. The product is neatly packed and it comes in 50 ml crystal clear pot with a light blue lid. Nivea has introduced many good products under its umbrella ‘Daily Essentials’ – primer, bb cream, tinted moisturiser, day cream and many others and I really like all the products.

Apply cream on cleansed face before applying makeup; gently massage in small circles avoiding the eye area. It can be used under makeup or simply by itself.

My Experience With Nivea Daily Essentials Hydration Primer:

The first thing of the product is, it certainly smells good. The fragrance is fairly fresh and doesn’t evaporate quickly after application. It has a creamy-gel like density with a perfectly light texture to be applied on a cleansed face. It indeed stands true to its description – ‘instant absorption’, it blends in the skin perfectly leaving my skin supple and soft. It gives a cooling effect and the feel is perfect for the next layer of foundation / BB cream / tinted moisturizer.

For my daily office make up, I wanted to keep my face layered with minimal makeup for a clean and clear base. Usually, my makeup bag is decked with a few basic eye makeup tools and lip shades along with moisturisers. But of late, I am having a great deal of fun by experimenting new products. As a primer’s job is to create a smooth base for foundation, I really wanted to buy one.

I have a very oily skin and Nivea primer is more like a light day cream. Many times, I have applied this primer on my face as a substitute of a daily moisturizer (especially when I am in no mood to make-up!) and it worked well. The primer provides enough hydration for lasting moistness and doesn’t leave my skin oily at all! As it lies beneath the foundation (in my case Tinted or BB Cream), it makes other products to last longer on the skin, giving a sleek effect to the overall appearance.

Out of my experience, I understand that hunting a good primer for an oily skin is relatively a tough job as we want it to keep our skin intact all day long without any residue. I was more inclined to buy a cream rather than a powder and Nivea primer is ideal for oily skin as it gives an even and cosy skin surface for the typical 9-5 routine. I have been using this for almost two months and I guess this is going to last me a few days more.

However, if you pretty ladies want to get premium and super results from this primer, then hold on! This product is not conceptualised to give dramatic results; it’s a simple yet effective primer used for a modest daily routine.

Yes, totally! It is the best bet for beginners and for daily routine. I am using the second pot and will be purchasing a 3rd soon.
