My experience with NYC Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm in Apple Blossom:

This lip balm is really really cute! This comes in pretty average looking, but bright, sturdy twist up tube. The cap snaps shut. So it is a perfect travel partner, as you don’t have to worry about your balm opening up in your bag. Open the cap of the tube, and what you see is cuteness personified! The design is pretty eye catching. The brighter, tinted part forms the outer core of the lip balm. This surrounds the inner core which is an apple shaped lighter colored moisturizing part. This lip balm reminds me a lot of Elle 18 Color Pops lipstick. The idea behind the design is probably the same, i.e. moisturise lips as you swipe color.

The lip balm smells delicious! It has a sweet (but not overly sugary sweet) fragrance. I don’t really think this smells of apples or fruits. The smell is good, but artificial. I like it and this doesn’t bother me as such. But those who prefer their lip balms/lip sticks/glosses to be fragrance free, this is definitely not for you!! The smell mellows a bit after some time. But it doesn’t completely dissipate.

Most of the shades in this range are pretty sheer. Big Apple Red (already reviewed here on IMBB) is the most pigmented of all the shades available and 1-2 swipes give a beautiful natural color to the lips. Apple Blossom is a light berry colored balm, which goes very sheer on application. This does not really show up on my lips (since they are slightly pigmented) and looks more like a clear balm. I have to swipe it innumerable times for at least some color to show up. (In the lip swatch, I have swiped the balm at least 6 times!)

This lip balm isn’t exactly glossy. It leaves a wonderful, subtle sheen on the lips (which I prefer) but doesn’t really work as a ‘glossy gloss’ as such.The texture is really smooth, silky and creamy. This seriously glides on like silk and feels light on the lips! It moisturises the lips well, and keeps them soft for a long time. This balm stays on for 2-3 hours (with a drink/mild snacks). Though it is hydrating, it does not repair very dry/chapped lips. So, exfoliation prior to application is advisable if your lips are very dry. But I don’t think the purpose of these tinted balms is healing chapped lips anyway. So, I really won’t consider this as a con.

The quantity of the balm is amazing! One tube will last a long time. For this price, it is totally worth it!

• Decent lasting power

Cons of NYC Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm in Apple Blossom:

• The shade might not show up on pigmented lips
• Smell (though sweet) might be a put off for those with a sensitive nose

A big YES for those who do not have pigmented lips!! This lip balm is great for daily wear and is a good choice when you have to go out to run a few errands. For those with pigmented lips, look out for the other brighter shades from this range! They are really nice!
