Red lipsticks are a must have products in your makeup stash. Recently, I came across Lip Lacquers from NYC and they had a few beautiful shades. So, today’s review is all about NYC New York Color Expert Last Matte Lip Lacquer in the shade 810 Riverdale Matte Red.

My Experience with NYC New York Color Expert Last Matte Lip Lacquer – #810 Riverdale Matte Red:
I always love to try new lipsticks and this time, I wanted to try the matte ones. This was the first time, I was investing in a liquid lipstick and thus, I decided to try a budget friendly one before investing in higher brands. That’s when I came across NYC’s Expert Last Matte Lip Lacquer and as it was matte and had a mention of Expert Last, I decided to pick it up.
The lip lacquer comes only in 4 shades: Red, Orange, Plum and Nude. Orange and Nude aren’t my colors and do not suit my skin tone and thus, I ended up buying the Red and the Plum shades. The lip Lacquer comes in a plastic transparent bottle through which you can see the shade. It comes with a black screw cap which houses the application wand. The shiny colors on the bottle might wear off with time. The packaging is sealed and thus, you can be sure that it isn’t used or swatched.
The applicator looks normal just like any other lip gloss and it makes the application easier. The lip lacquer has a fruity fragrance and flavour which stays for a while until it dries and later it disappears. The shade is a complete cheater! The color looks red in the bottle but when I swatched it on my hand, it looked more like a reddish pink color! Even when applied on lips at different angles, I felt that the color looked more like a reddish plum or reddish orange. But, I like it anyway so I have no problem!
The lip lacquer has a perfect consistency, it is neither too thick nor too runny. This makes it easier to draw the lines and fill the edges of my lips. The opaque color has a very good pigmentation. Just one dip can achieve a bold color on the lips and provide full coverage. Even though it is a matte lipstick, the color doesn’t dry completely and has a hint of sheen in it but after an hour or so, it dries a bit but not to a 100% matte finish.
Until it settles to a dry finish, the lip lacquer gets transferred everywhere. I set it with powder to prevent this as I do not have that patience to wait till it dries. Once it dries, the color stays for almost 6-7 hours on my lips and it didn’t transfer or bleed. But, it faded a bit after drinking tea or juice and meals! But, once it dries completely, it tends to settle between the dryness of the lips and thus, applying on well exfoliated and moisturised lips are highly recommended. Overall, it is a great color and I love the way it lasts long and for the price I pay, it is worth every penny.
