This is my first NYC mascara, I have used drugstore mascaras before but this is the first one from this brand. I rummaged through the NYC shelf in a local drugstore and was surprised to see a bunch of mascara for different purposes – lengthening, curling, volumizing and so on. My Take on NYC Sky Rise Lengthening Mascara:

For quite some time I have been looking for a good drugstore mascara and I kind of had my mind set on the Loreal Lengthening mascara but then since I came across this one for just $1.99, I decided to try my first NYC mascara and see how it works on me.

I had low hopes with this product and without opening it’s seal I decided to see it’s reviews online (because I was inclined towards returning it and getting a better reviewed product). But I was pleasantly surprised to find good reviews about this product and most beauty bloggers claimed that this is an awesome product and is even better than most high end mascaras.

Packaging: Cylindrical black tube with a cap to hold the wand. The tube is generous in length but skinny; good amount of product for money paid. The brush is a bit skinny and longer than most mascara would have and is a little difficult to work with but I guess, it is required to impart length to the lashes. One has to be careful while using it because I poked my eye with that skinny applicator; needless to say I am not very fond of the brush.

Texture: It’s not very runny or wet but is rather dry; however, it does not create clumpy lashes and hence has the perfect consistency.

 

Pigmentation: One coat gives an instant lift and length to the lashes and is enough for a day look. For a more dramatic look one can go for two or three coats and it would be enough to give an appearance of false lashes.

Wear Time: Entire day except a little bit of fallout or transfer of product from lower lashes on to the under eye skin but that is minimal and barely noticeable. The only drawback is that it’s not water proof so all those who cry a lot or love to dance in rain, refrain from this mascara otherwise one is good to go. Don’t blame it for not being water proof since it does not claim to be one.

• Does not clump lashes.
• Does not make lashes dry or brittle.

Cons of NYC Sky Rise Lengthening Mascara:

• Not water proof.
• Brush is a little too skinny and one might poke their eye if used in hurry.

Would I Repurchase NYC Sky Rise Lengthening Mascara?
Not this one but would buy other mascaras from this brand since they appeared very appealing. Readers should give a fair try to this product and add it to their stash of beauty products.
