I am sure many of you, just like me, are always on a lookout for who is coming from the US. I always keep a tab and my husband, who gets annoyed with this, once said to me, “Why don’t you bribe the immigration officers and take a list of people going and coming from the US? Then you can track them and plead with them to get your stuff.” Hubby thinks I am possessed with a makeup demon. Well, this time I had my sister-in-law’s parents to get me and my friends some real good products from NYX. We were so greedy that we purchased products of almost $400 worth. ;). Today’s review will be on NYX Plush Gel Lipstick in the shade #03 Breakup. This is not a new range and has been in the market for some time now.

My Experience with NYX #03 Breakup Plush Gel Lipstick:
Packaging:
NYX, being a very economical brand, does not generally have big and classy packaging. The lipstick is housed in a sleek plastic tube. The number of the lipstick, its name and ingredients are mentioned on the tube itself. The lipstick then comes packed in a thin plastic sheet. Very minimal packing, I must say. The lipstick bullet is also thin and sleek and comes right up to the brim. So be careful while you open and close it. Also, the body of the lipstick case is the same shade of the lipstick it belongs to and hence identification is easy.
Shade:
Breakup is a very pretty, everyday light brown shade with slightly mauvish undertones. It will suit all skin tones. It is a very subtle and sober shade and can be very well used for professional places. There are absolutely no shimmers in it. But when you see the swatches you will see that in sunlight it shines as if there are shimmer particles in it. It has a pretty glossy finish to it but nothing over the top shininess.
Texture and Pigmentation:
I love the texture of this lipstick. Just like the name, the texture feels smooth and buttery. It is actually gel-like and glides on the lips with no efforts at all. No tugging or pulling at all. In fact, the moment you apply it, you can actually feel how soft it is. Even the bullet looks creamy and soft. Because it is soft, it crumbles a bit on the dry patches.
One thing I noticed is that because this is a dark shade, when you apply on dry patches, it crumbles and then that certain part of your lip will look darker as compared to the other parts. So scrub, moisturize and then apply. The pigmentation is good and one swipe will also suffice. You can layer it if you wish for a darker hue and it won’t feel heavy or look cakey. It is very light on the lips. It has a pretty shiny/glossy finish to it.
Lasting Power:
It lasts around 3-4 hours without eating or drinking. It definitely would not survive meals. Also, it transfers to cutlery. So if you apply and then eat or drink, you would need to do a retouch. When it fades away it leaves a brownish tint which looks a little uneven. It definitely is not waterproof.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase NYX #03 Breakup Plush Gel Lipstick?
Even with the drawbacks, I still like it; someone who can ignore these cons can surely give this lipstick a try. Since NYX products are very economical, it won’t hurt your pockets. I would not buy this shade again but would like to try some other shades from this range.
