NYX Auto Lip Pencil in Plum Review

These days, I am into a lot of lip stuff; Neha, Nupur and Rati are to be totally blamed for that :haanji: While most of my pursuits have been successful, some of them turned out to be total duds 🙁 and this is the gem of the duds!

Product Description:

NYX Auto Pencil Lip is just as good as NYX’s famous lip pencils but with a self-sharpener. NYX Auto Lip Pencil is creamy, easy to blend and has great staying power. Infused with coconut and seed oil, NYX Auto Lip Pencil will leave your lips feeling moisturized all day long.

Ingredients:

Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Hydrogenated Coconut Oil, Ployglycerl-2 Trisostearate, Butyl Paraben, B.H.T., Zinc Stearate, Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide, D&C Red #7, D&C Red #6 Barium Lake, Ferric Ammonium Ferrocyanide, FD&C Blue #1 Aluminum Lake, Manganese Violet, Mica (and) Titanium Dioxide, Mica.

Price:

Available in about 18 shades and costs $2-7. I got it for $5 at Ulta.

My Experience NYX Auto Lip Pencil in Plum:

It claims to define and perfect your natural lip line and that these lip pencils are made soft for easy application without pulling and dragging.  Its sheer formula makes the lip line look natural yet defined.  Well, that’s all talk and no substance. As they say- blah blahh blah!!! :spank: This is by far the worst lip pencil I have ever got. The pencil is so dry that it tugs and pulls at the lips.

Even if you slather lip balm before applying, it will tug your lips. Also, it is so dry that you really have to apply a lot of pressure so as to make the colour appear 🙁 I once tried so hard that my lips stung 🙁 I never had trouble with MAC, Covergirl or even Lakme for that matter. I don’t know how NYX Slim Pencils fare, but this is highly avoidable. As you can see in the swatch, it does not apply evenly and even feathers, kind of separates. It gets applied very unevenly and if I try to apply a lipstick/gloss, it looks hideous and patchy.

Now, before I start to rant more and pull my hair, let me sum it up:

Pros of NYX Auto Lip Pencil in Plum:

  • Good color selection.
  • Decently priced.
  • Twist-up and self sharpening.

Cons of NYX Auto Lip Pencil in Plum:

  • It is super dry.
  • Tugs on the lips.
  • It stings my lips.
  • Total waste of money.

Verdict:

In one word – “avoid!” There is better fish in the market 😉

  2. after Rati’s EA post yesterday, I’d say check the manufacturing date and shelf life…..it pains when you end up with a dud cosmetic….. :(( :((

  3. Oh boy! :tremble: :tremble: :tremble: :tremble:
I was just about to purchase this online yesterday!!! Luckily I didn’t. 😯

Thanks for sharing this review with us, babe! :high5:

  4. I also had the similar experience with Hot red shade of NYX auto Lipliner. It has be applied with so much pressure that you really get hurt while applying and the staying power is realyyyyyyyyyyyyyy pathetic. Sheer wastage of money!

  5. Even the NYX slim lip pencils are very dry, not creamy at all. Revlon and Maxfactor are much nicer. But NYX is very pigmented. :((
