I am not too much into blushes, but after reading reviews on IMBB, I got tempted too and decided to give it a try. So, here I am reviewing my first ever blush – NYX Baked Blush in the shade Foreplay. Read on to find out if I liked it or not.
Baked to sheer perfection, this luxurious formula is packed full of pigments to provide a natural glow and highlight to the face. Uniquely designed to be used wet or dry, depending upon the makeup statement you want to make. When used dry with a brush, the look is light and fresh. Want more color? No Problem! Apply wet with a makeup sponge for more intensity.
- What it is: A baked blusher that can also be used as a bronzer or illuminator.
- What it does: A silky-smooth, lightweight, highly-pigmented formula that blends easily and evenly.
- Why we love it: This formula is versatile and can be used wet or dry for light to heavy application of color.
How To Use:
Apply to cheekbones or apples of cheeks. Add a light dusting on top of nose, forehead, chin and décolleté when used as a bronzer or illuminator.
My Take on NYX Baked Blush + Illuminator + Bronzer in Foreplay:
First off, I have no idea why this blush is called Foreplay 😛 I guess NYX got inspired with NARS Orgasm and decided to name a blush on similar lines.
Packaging: The blush comes in a cute black square plastic case with a transparent lid. The lid shuts tight and there is no danger of the blush opening accidentally even if you toss it in your bag. The lid has a tiny bow detail which adds to the cuteness of the packaging. The blush itself is dome shaped.
Color and Pigmentation: Foreplay is a lovely peachy pink color. NYX describes it as a pink with gold shimmer. It indeed has tiny shimmer particles but these are not too visible and only provide a nice sheen to the cheeks.
The pigmentation is slightly on the sheerer side, but since I am only a novice with blushes, I actually like this kind of finish. The blush can be applied either wet or dry and you can increase the intensity by layering it or applying it wet.
Texture and Finish: NYX labels these blushes as a blush, illuminator, and bronzer all in one. I might agree with the illuminator part as the blush does give a bit of a glow due to the shimmer particles. However, it can’t be called a bronzer; at least not the shade Foreplay.
The blush feels quite silky and powdery during application and is easily blendable. The finish of the blush is satiny and I love that it adds a muted radiance to my cheeks. It provides a nice flush of color which looks quite natural.
Staying Power: The blush lasts on me for around 5-6 hours if applied dry and sheer.
Pros of NYX Baked Blush + Illuminator + Bronzer in Foreplay:
- Lovely peachy pink shade.Easily blend-able.
- Can work as a blush as well as an illuminator.
- Can be applied sheer or the intensity can be increased if applied wet.
- Subtle shimmer which adds to the glow.
- Decent lasting power.
- Adds a nice flush and radiance to the face.
Cons of NYX Baked Blush + Illuminator + Bronzer in Foreplay:
- The shade “Foreplay” would not work as a bronzer as marketed.
Would I Repurchase/Recommend NYX Baked Blush + Illuminator + Bronzer in Foreplay?
I would definitely recommend you to try out this blush if you are on the lookout for a peachy pink shade. I personally love that the blush can be applied sheer or intense based on your liking. I might not repurchase the exact shade but will try out other shades from the range.
