Whenever I watch makeup collection videos on you tube, my favorite section is the lipstick collection as it is the most colorful section of any makeup collection and this is the reason I buy lots of lipsticks. Today I will be reviewing a black label lipstick from NYX called Mahogany. These are available in huge variety of shades and I like many of them, but as they are a little costly in India, I always try to get them on discount. While surfing some online sites, I saw this color on a huge discount of 40%, so without even thinking twice I ordered it. I personally am not very fond of deeper brown colors, but my mom loves them and so I thought that it would be good for her.

Packaging: These lipsticks come in a black packaging with flowers printed on it. The base of the lipstick is transparent and has a color which is similar to the actual color of the lipstick. This comes in a blackish cardboard packaging with a similar floral design.

Ingredients: Bees Wax, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax Ceresin, Polyethylene, Octyldodeanol, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Bis-Digylceryl Polyacyladipade-2, Diisostearyl Malate, B.H.A, Fragrance.

My take on NYX Black Label Lipstick in Mahogany:

This is my second lipstick from this line. The other color I have is ‘Adore’. The first time I saw mahogany online, I felt it to be similar to Adore, but as it was on discount I brought it (I am a shopaholic and discounts helps in worsening my condition). But when I received it, I found that it is actually very different from Adore, although it is also a dark shade like Adore, it is different. Mahogany seems to be a shade of brown with red undertones when seen in person, but on camera and on lips, it is a shade of deep red with no signs of brown. The color is appropriate for the coming winter season.

The quality I like the most about these lipsticks is their texture, which makes them glide on smoothly on lips and thus makes them extremely easy to apply. Mahogany is great in pigmentation and stays for a decent amount of time. I applied the color in the morning, before having my breakfast just in order to check the staying power, after my breakfast, although the color faded a bit, but it was not completely gone. After this I reapplied the color which stayed till lunch (fading after lunch). When first applied the lipstick is extremely moisturizing and creamy, but after a meal, and after fading, the lipsticks makes the lips dry, and there seems to be an urgent need of reapplying it, or applying a lip balm. I like the fact that the color is free of sparkles, but is not matte, it is just like any other not matte lipstick with better smoothness.

One thing that I noticed in this color is that you need perfect lips for this color; even a minute flaw is clearly visible under this color.

Pros of NYX Black Label Lipstick in Mahogany:

• Color can be recognized without opening the lid
• Beautiful floral packaging
• High pigmentation
• No weird smell
• No sparkles

Cons of NYX Black Label Lipstick in Mahogany:

• Need perfect lips, even the minute flaws are easily visible under this
• Lips feels dry after a meal or when the color starts fading

Would I buy this product again?

I would definitely buy other colors from the same range, but I will not buy the same color again.

Do I recommend this?

If on discount, I do recommend this, as it is a beautiful color for the season, but otherwise I would suggest trying some other shades from this range.
